I'm installing my NEP OTR intake, and I'm having trouble getting the MAF sensor plug to reach in's new location. How do i get to reach there?

You don't need to, reach around it. its tight but doable.

Yeah, i read this now. But i'm having a bitch of a problem figuring out how to remove the connections. I popped the red tabs but that is far as i got.

They're a bitch to figure out and just as hard to explain. Red tabs pop then a lever sort of thing flips up.

can i do this without disconnecting the battery ?

Disconnecting the battery is always a good idea when playing with the ECM.

OK i'm lost now. I got the new ECM in a went to do the relearn. I tried starting it and it did nothing, so i left it in the on posision and relized i had no security indicator light so i turned it off and then back on, still nothing. So i was like wtf, where 's the light. SO i just said whatever and tried starting it. Starts right up, with no service engine light at all. So now i'm completely confused.

What nobody knows ?

It just did a security relearn so to speak. 3 key cycles and it communicated with the other modules and started working.

but i didn't do the relearn i just started it up. PLus there is no check engine light either.

Correct, but it had to communicate with the other modules before it could work. My car did the same thing.

oh, so i don't have to actually do the 30 minute relearn even though it's a new ECM, it just works and that's all that matters ? What about not having a check engine light ?

Obviously that ECM has been installed if the crank and security relearn have been done. Drive and enjoy!!

I'm obviously not understanding something here. The ECM was brand new from VMS and was never installed before, so that doesn't make any sense to me.

All that really matters is it works. :)

This is true. Thanks. I just wanted to make sure something wasn't wrong since i've never heard anyone else say that the did not have to do a security or crank relearn.

This happened to me last April, when only a few people had them and no one with a G8 had experienced this. Finally found out searching web that Solstice owner had it happen and VMS explaned that it was new and had never been in another car, so didn't need Key re-learn. IE... If it starts, it doesn't need Key relearn, if it doesn't you have to go thru the proseedure they detail in their instructions. In either case, you have to do the case relearn with Dashhawk or Scan Tool.

Why is the first situation happening. Some ECM's Vector purchases for re-sale, have been tested in a car, even though they're new. If so, you have to do Key re-learn. If they haven't, you don't.

Once you do the ECM removal several times, it is possible to swap them out in a couple minutes.....EVEN IF YOU ARE ASLEEP!!!!

I still have to do the case relearn if i don't have a check engine light ?

I'm confused myself. Did you get the ecm from Vector? stock tune? What?
Also, you don't have to disconnect the battery to remove your ecm. However, like George said, it's always a good practice to disconnect the battery.

Yes and no. Your new ECM is close enough to your old ECM to make the computer happy. It must be within a certain range, this happens about 10% of the time.
If you want to make it exact a CASE relearn is necessary. It will not make the car run any different, just make your ECM misfire detection more accurate.

You mean the chance of throwing a code are greater basically ?

No. It has nothing to do with throwing a code.
