What if any protectant or wax helps protect the wheel from water spotting and brake dust

I have the stock polished aluminum wheels. A car detailer told me to try waxing the wheels with Carnuaba. I used the same stuff I was waxing the car with (Meguiars Carnuaba) on the wheels. Let it sit for about fifteen min and wiped off. It has done an AMAZING job at keeping the dust off. I usually have black wheels a week later. But now they look just cleaned a week later. Since the Carnauba does such a great job on the chrome accents on the car, I'd try it on the wheels. Test it first though.

We just had a huge discussion about this on the Adam's forum.

Basically any wax will work but claying the wheel first is a good idea. It gets all the contaminants off which will allow the wax to adhere better and last longer.

I use a metal protectant from Wizards and it works real well to keep the dust from sticking and the water spots off of the aluminum. http://www.wizardsproducts.com/ I buy my Wizards products by the case and then sell to my friends for what I have in it Plus a dollar for handling. The larger purchases makes this stuff a better price.
