Somebody asked in a recent thread (I cannot find it again) if Aussies have the same problems with gas cap sealing as experienced with G8's. In USA there's noise about small and large EVAP system leaks and a couple of part numbers, 92232541 & 92251462....which have white or blue writing on them.
Here in Aus the gas cap Part number from 2007 till Sept 2012 has always been 92159812.
It's still in stock and available under the original VE 2007 part number with no bulletins showing in the parts info.

I've no idea if the 92159812 would fit a G8. The G8 gas cap would have a different part number solely if it had different wording, spelling, or colours on it. Diameters and threads may also have changed for the USA market.

Is the filler neck the same for US branded cars?

Nope, the Pontiac G8 filler pipe 92232570 is a different part number to the Holden VE.

Local dealership has ordered me a new gas cap. Code becoming more frequent.
Wife's Equinox also has this issue.
My Ford is cap less and never had this code. Just saying.

I've been getting an EVAP leak engine code now for a few weeks.

I put a dab of dielectric grease on the cap seal and reset the light. will see if it comes back.

Just get the STANT cap and never look back.

My GTO had the same gas cap failure...put a STANT on it and the G8 and never had issues again.

My cap is original. 5 years later and still no problems.

so update - dielectric grease didn't fix it - slowed it down a touch. IE light would kick as soon as I hit 1/2 a tank from full - with grease on the seal it took 1/4 tank.

my cap has the blue writing on it and I have to assume its OE to the car - its atlest over 3 years old as that's as long as I've had gertrude.

Thinking I might try a Stant before going any deeper on trouble shooting. getting the exact same code.

as anyone replaced the valve/sensor that is up front by the Throttle body?

If you throw a light take it to the nearest dealer, gm has provided owners with a special coverage to replace the cap.

My car has 111K on the clock and is officially 5 years old. so I can't image it would garner any warrany like support.

and I don't want to hear their rot about well we need to drop the tank . . . . . . . . .

if I can just put a new cap on myself. and apparently from what I've read the previous owners either put a blue writing cap on - or it came that way from the factory. but it doesn't fit right. infact I can cross thread the damn thing if I'm not careful with alignment.

Definitely agree here.i had to midnight back to dealer over 4 times for this issue. Loose caps over over and over again. Put the stant cap on and haven't had a problem since. The wife left it loose one time and CE licht came on . I tightened it back up and with in100 feet of driving the light went out.
