View Full Version : Volvo vibration under acceleration

I have a 2000 Volvo s40 that shakes beyond belief when accelerating > 40mph or so. Just replaced both axle shafts, which were making no noise at the time. I'm thinking Motor mounts, but need other opinions. I thought for sure the shafts were it...

If a mount is real bad under load it can put the axle in a bind. Open the hood and have someone brake torque in reverse and drive and see if teh engine moves more then 1/2-1 inch. It will be obvious if a mount is broke, the engine will jump! It was very nice of you to come by today and it was nice to meet you.

Replaced the lower front one...better but not done. Have to order the other 2...

I dont sometimes. If its a slow day, its OK. Most of my day is always spent waiting for UPS/FedEx or local vendors. then get 10 hrs work done in 3 hours!

Let me know how that goes. Curious about the mood swings. My Dr advised against it for me due to my attitude issues at times. Imagine that! :)

I have a 2009 s40 with the same problem. I took it to 2 different places, one says its the motor mount and the axel, the other place says the motor mount is fine and the axel needs to be replaced

Mine was mounts. They were quite difficult to find, and very pricey.
