Just got back my analysis done by Schaeffer oil on my new 09 G8 GT, as with all new vehicles that I have tested they all come back with a high silicon content, this one read 63ppm, which states it as severe, and also a high copper content also with a reading of 121ppm which is also high, I knew I should not have put in synthetic oil when I changed it, oh well I will put about
1500-2K miles and do it again to establish a trend, that is why a person should always get the factory oil out ASAP, just my 2 cents, not saying the factory oil is bad but of the contaminants being removed on a new motor by the oil, thanks.

Been there said that. I always err on the safe side. Mine was dumped at 130 miles then at 1000 miles and then at 3800 miles. I will go till 6000 with dino and THEN go to synthetic.

I went Synthetic at 6K as well. Dealer I bought from does a Mobil 1 change for 74 Bucks. Normally I would do it my self, but for that price, saves me the aggravation cause 10 Quarts of Mobil 1 at Walmart is alone 50 and in a filter for 8, I will give them the 14 or so they charge so I dont get oil all over the place.

X, I use 5-30 Chevron syn or 5-30 Valv syn. Chooch, are you saying for 74$ they will change your oil with syn, that is 9qts plus filter?? heck I would be there every 2K miles or so for that price, also you all should be using the Fumoto valves installed in your oil pan cause of the alum. and this is not a sale pitch but I have about 4 or 5 of them with the adapters if anyone is interested, just save your drain plug and when you sell the car remove the valve and install your drain plug, simple, thanks.

Ron,

Thanx. Does the fumoto valve have a magnet in it as well to collect any metal that might be floating around? Also, how does it operate? I would be worried about it activating and lossing my oil with noticing. Lastly will they fit the LS3 oil pan?

Ron, yep 74.95 for 5w-30 Mobil1 oil change and filter. I had bought all my cars there since 2003 and as well had my Neon serviced there which I bought at another place since it is a Chrysler/Dodge/Pontiac/GMC dealer. They have been good to me and frankly, they do good work. I have not been disappointed yet. Need to keep them in Business so i can replace my Wifes car in the next year of to :)

X, no magnet on the end, but if it really is a concern you could use a filter mag, and those do work, they have a spring loaded lever that has to be manually opened, I just see no way that it could possibly just open by itself, just no way, and that just remines
me to get a filter mag myself.
75.00 is a great deal, and also if they do you a good job that makes all the better, thanks.

I ran Pennzoil dino for the first two changes and this last time I went with Castrol dino oil.

I will run Royal Purple when 6000 miles comes around.

Old post I know but...

Supposedly it offers a better complete break in. I am not an expert. I know what I read and I read it a lot, so I went with it. The getting the original oil out right away thing is something I always do.
