So I don't have a garage with high ceiling however other than a jack can anyone recommend a way to get under the car??

The only thing that I have found is this company:

Any one have these?

Looks like a VERY overpriced version of Rhino Ramps.

Funny, I've been looking at lifts as we're going to build another garage (3 car unattached) and my requirement is high enough to put in a lift.

If ramps of this type are your pleasure, go to Autozone and get the Rhinos for $45 or so. OR, get a drive on, hydraulic type that will give you 2-3 feet underneath...nevermind, you said cheap. Go to AZ.

rhinos are nice but they'll scrape on the front. A couple 12 inch pieces of 2x6 will fix that. Drive up on the 2x6s before you hit the ramps, no scrape.

Like Wreck said, you could place some wood underneath the ramps to raise them, up to 3" (2 2X10) if wood is stepped up to ramp.

I don't put the wood under the ramps, i put it in front of them.

they're great for raising ass end too, back right onto them, no wood needed.

That price adds $15 shipping...bringing it back to Autozone pricing. Trust me, I usually look at Amazon first for most things!

Me too! I'm a Prime member, best money I ever spent. I get free 2 day shipping, 3.99 next day on most items.

I think the best bang for buck for making it easier to work on cars in your garage is to make a pit. It would be super easy and cost next to nothing if you are building a house just to build a pit in the garage floor and get some steel to put over it when your not using it. I have debated putting on in my current house... just chisel out the current floor and dig it out and build walls under the edge of the floor to support it.. then just pour a little floor in it. I am just worried about the sand collapsing on the sides while digging it down. Only way to solve this problem would be to cut the hole bigger then your pit so you can re tamp the sand around your pit walls.

It is probably a bit confusing to read but I suck at making ideas make sense in writing haha

don't forget to get an engineer and a survey or the structure can weaken!!!

downside to a pit is you can't pull wheels.

...and the ground water table here precludes anything deeper than about a foot...

jiffy-Lube places manage it but yea, that's generally an issue.

I plan to still use a jack to take off a wheel lol... as for ground water, it wouldn't affect anything around here for it to matter but individual cases may be different

Was just an idea if someone wanted to go the extra mile and had the time and room!

didn't say it was a bad idea, just pointing out the glitch :)

I wanted to expand my garage in a bad way, but don't have enough property to do it. My solution wasn't cheap, but worth it. There are alot of lift companies out there, be sure to buy something that isn't built to be inexpensive.

Mostly used for storage, I guess I'm lift spoiled. My brother and brother in law both live within five minutes. Brother in law currently has 4 lifts with 2 waiting to be installed (he has a huge detached garage), and my brother has 2 in his garage as well.:woohoo:

How high are the ceilings in your garage? I plan on using a asymmetrical lift when I get the shop completed this spring.

Ceiling is 11', but I was still able to park my TBSS underneath.

They go up better backwards then forwards! Damn near drives up at idle.

I love my Rhinos.

I haven't used them on my P/U truck yet though...
