Let me start this review by acknowledging that this is my first set of summer tires. Also, previous tires were Goodyear RSA's on stock 19" sport wheels.

I got the tires put on three weeks ago, you can see my original post here (http://forum.grrrr8.net/showthread.php?t=36118)for some pictures of the tires from a few angles. The sidewalls are pretty square which looks good, and they're pretty stiff at 95 for the front and 97 for the rear if my memory serves me.

They were purchased through Tires By Web which is a Michigan based company. Group A Wheels had a slightly better price, but TBW matched it. I ordered them April 1st and Pat (Sales guy) said they'd have 'em to me by the end of the week. True to his word they arrived at my office on Friday.

Overall feeling: There is almost no play in the steering, especially at highway speeds. I'm able to change lanes in 1/2 second or less at 80mph and feel completely comfortable. Wet traction is equally good, even with all the rain we had in Michigan the last week or so. I toned my sporty driving down a little bit, but never once did worry about traction. She feels totally glued to the road on the highway (her natural habitat).

Cornering: Why buy tires like this unless you're going to have fun right? I wasn't really able to push it to the max because I know my brakes aren't all that great right now (upgrading soon) but I was able to try them out. There's not many easy ways to try out grip without looking like a nut doing circles in a parking lot. So I downloaded a demo version of Dashboss to my Android phone, set it to skidpad and took to some highway on/off ramps. The result? As fast as I felt comfortable going, I was able to get .89G on the app. Granted I know my phone isn't a precision device but it's all I have at the moment. I didn't want to try to hard because 1) it's only low 60's out and 2) I imagine there was dust/debris on the ramps which could have affected my high speed turns. Oh, I also have BMR sway bars, which may have helped.

Summary: Awesome tires. One of the tires it was compared to many times in my research was the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, which would have been several hundred dollars more. I have confidence that on a warm summer day I'll chicken out before the tires lose grip.

How do they hook from a dig, like if you punch it with TC off?

I haven't tried much from a dig, only 'cause I know there's not much that would hold to the torque I have. I did give her 1/2 to 2/3 throttle with TC on and I didn't feel TC kick on. They come in a 295/30/20 too, but I went with the 275s to make sure it'd fit in the wheel well.

Should be mid to high 70s in the next couple days, I'll try to hit the highway at lunch to warm 'em up and then try a couple hole shots.

Dave, when we have the summer meet/greets you can take her for a spin and see how you like 'em if you want.

Yea I don't know what I was thinking! With the Maggie that thing is a shredder of all tires lol. Thanks for the review though. These may be my next tires

I might be upgrading my brakes soon so I plan on trying a performance driving class or possibly letting someone drive the car at a local SCCA event. Maybe I'll try a 90 degree turn in a nice asphalt parking lot sometime and see what happens.

Hey Bob, in post number 1 you said "I'm able to change lanes in 1/2 second or less at 80mph, etc, ect,. Isn't the legal speed limit 70mph in Michigan? You've once told me "don't go over the speed limit". Is speeding only acceptable for you, but not allowable for others?

I'd hope so, unless bob was telling random people not to speed... Citizens arrest, lol!

It's not like I posted a video of myself doing 100+ like that one idiot did a while back. Granted it wasn't a G8, or even in the U.S. if memory serves, but still...

Update: I recently pushed it a little and did even faster during a moderately heavy rain, on a 20+ mile freeway drive. Still felt planted and no slipping around turns that I could feel. :)

Update: In looking at my rears in the basement they're just a hair away from the wear bars. Considering the torque I was putting through them they held up pretty darn good. The fronts easily still have a season left in them. There's actually a Vorti R that's a new model but the sizes are a little different. I'm thinking I might just grab another rear set this spring and call it a day.

I'm not sure if I pushed the tires enough but I'd wager not many of us do compared to manufacturer testing/reviews. Overall a solid tire, will buy again. Put on in April 2013 and was able to get two seasons out of the rears. YMMV though depending on your power/driving habits. ;)
