Well this 70 degree weather has brought out the boy racers once again. I was actually a little dissappointed I wasn't in my TA but o well.

There are two guys @ my work that are so to speak "cocky" one with a blacked out 97 Cobra with your typical Moostang exhaust, BBK ORX, American Thunder catback, BBK UD pulleys, and BBK CAI. The other is a punk hippie with a 'Vert '00 TA WS6 w/ SLP lid and bellows, and a Flowcrapper CB.

Leaving work I finally caught the light with the Cobra, and knew it was going down. His is a manual so I knew the launch was going to be in my favor.

At the green I launch, remember bone stock as it was from the factory, and the onslaught began. Don't know how he launched but early I was out by at least 1 car and pulled, and pulled up to about 95. End result was about 4-5 cars! That got me excited.

Later, I saw punk kid in the TA cruising and wanted to mess with him. We took it to the "loop" where the first race was from 20mph, but the idiot never got even with me, so with his bumper @ the front of mine I started honking. At 3 we go and I get to his door, but then the lack of tune came into play finally. With the granny shifts hed jump 1/2 car, another shift-another 1/2 car, so lost by about 2-3 cars @ about 120 in first race.

I tried to pursuade him to go from a dig but he didn't want to "stop on the road" eventhough NObody was around. So we go from 20-25 again and AGAIN he never gets even with me. So I honk this time and jump a little early admittedly to try to make up the 1/2 car difference. It works but.....I shifted and he jumped ahead, etc etc. That race was a sure fire 2 car loss, but will say that above 115 I was pulling him, but that doesn't matter to me cuz highway racing (100+) isn't my thing. I judge by 1/4 mile, or a little further.

So won one and lost two.

With a TCM tune the race with the TA was sure to be really close.

ECM/TCM tune and a CAI and the T/A loses!

That's what I'm thinking. So now my VaraRam anticipation was gotten a little more intense.

I was truly surprised though in this car's capabilities as I haven't been able to get any races in it under my belt.

As a TA owner I know what my car was like stock, so that speaks volumes for the G8's capabilities as well, since it is basically in "raw" form.

And I have been wanting a solid fbody camparison and finally gotten one. Only one before was a bods full bolt on and cammed Z28, and it wasn't even close! Lol

Just the trans tune and raising the shift points would have gotten the T/A, but if you are going to tune it do all of it.

The 97 Cobra is a weakling. After 2003, they got a little stronger.

Yea they're not much, hell in '01 they were over 20hp under-producing! Dynoing @ 240-250ish lol. 03-04s are beast though.

And Charlie I'm going all out TCM/ECM tune when my ARH, VaraRam, and HSRK are on. Having two separate tunes done and saved under my HPT in .bin files for easy swappage. One will be a 125 wet shot tune.

Sounds like fun...I raced a t/a up to 140 twice and both times after 110 the G8 starts pulling, HARD.

Man, were you shifting manual mode. These cars just don't like that, I don't know of anyone thats drag raced that their car ran faster in the manual mode. I think you'd have done much better in the sport mode or even in the drive mode. I may have misunderstood you, but, if not then try him again.

No it was in sport! But if anyone here (Charlie) has dealt with a sloppy 700R4 that's what I describe it as.

And TugBoat I know I called BS on your other thread on you starting to catch that Firebird but now I believe you. At 110 I was reeling him in, but we both let off.

There's a couple new TAs in town as well as a new GT so my buddy Matt (cammed SOM Z28) and I are gonna take out the Z,G8,and my H/C TA along with mr. VIDEO CAMERA! Should make for a nice evening!

Well I by no means condone street racing so all footage will be filmed in a foreign country where this type of activity is legal.

All good man, I have no reason to lie at this stage in my life...especially about a hobby. I figured you'd run into one sooner or later and be like ohhhhh...
