Well this 70 degree weather has brought out the boy racers once again. I was actually a little dissappointed I wasn't in my TA but o well.
There are two guys @ my work that are so to speak "cocky" one with a blacked out 97 Cobra with your typical Moostang exhaust, BBK ORX, American Thunder catback, BBK UD pulleys, and BBK CAI. The other is a punk hippie with a 'Vert '00 TA WS6 w/ SLP lid and bellows, and a Flowcrapper CB.
Leaving work I finally caught the light with the Cobra, and knew it was going down. His is a manual so I knew the launch was going to be in my favor.
At the green I launch, remember bone stock as it was from the factory, and the onslaught began. Don't know how he launched but early I was out by at least 1 car and pulled, and pulled up to about 95. End result was about 4-5 cars! That got me excited.
Later, I saw punk kid in the TA cruising and wanted to mess with him. We took it to the "loop" where the first race was from 20mph, but the idiot never got even with me, so with his bumper @ the front of mine I started honking. At 3 we go and I get to his door, but then the lack of tune came into play finally. With the granny shifts hed jump 1/2 car, another shift-another 1/2 car, so lost by about 2-3 cars @ about 120 in first race.
I tried to pursuade him to go from a dig but he didn't want to "stop on the road" eventhough NObody was around. So we go from 20-25 again and AGAIN he never gets even with me. So I honk this time and jump a little early admittedly to try to make up the 1/2 car difference. It works but.....I shifted and he jumped ahead, etc etc. That race was a sure fire 2 car loss, but will say that above 115 I was pulling him, but that doesn't matter to me cuz highway racing (100+) isn't my thing. I judge by 1/4 mile, or a little further.
So won one and lost two.
With a TCM tune the race with the TA was sure to be really close.
