I should be getting a G8 in the next two weeks and want to add a GPS to it. Any ideas of where, how, and what brand? Can you show me pix of what you have done?

Yes, I have a perfect navigation solution for your G8 (something I did to my G8 over Christmas break).

Do you think there is room for a 2XXW (wide screen) Nuvi? What about reception? Did you install an external antenna?

A widescreen COULD fit. I wish I had measured to find out! A widescreen would look even better if it fits.
I have had no problem with reception. No external antenna needed. Many other G8 users have installed their nav unit in the cubby hole of the G8. It's an easy, good-looking solution.

Reception shouldn't be an issue. I can use my Zumo in my house.
Since I don't use mine all the time and it moves from vehicle to vehicle and bike to bike I just use the window mount. Plus I use the cubby for my door opener.
This pic was on a downhill run on my Vmax... :)

Okay, so I purchased a Nuvi 255W. Waiting on my car to arrive then I will let you know how it works out.

You could also do the VIM mod and get the Garmin that has a video output and get NAV on the built in screen.

I couldn't find one on the website that had video out.

If you have the VIM mod it will. Although I think someone said that you can't listen to music while using it (but I'm not sure on that).

I would recommend one w/ an MP3 player. It's really handy to have it plugged into the Aux, be able to play music, but then when the directions need to speak, it temporarily overtakes the music, then returns to the music after the GPS has done it's piece in navigating. Just my 2c.

That looks pretty slick Mike.
What kind of a deal can you get us? A grand for this doesn't seem worth the money :)

Very sweet tool but pricey as hell. I don't like that everything has extra license fees on top of already heavy base price.

When do you think an actual factory replacement GPS head unit will become available?
