I had been noticing a constant ticking the past week and figured with all the threads about lifter failure that I've seen that I had better have it checked out.
Dropped the car off at the dealership this morning and just got a call back that there are some lifters that have failed. They're still checking to see if the cam needs to be replaced as well. :facepalm2:

At least its covered by the warranty, rental car is covered too.

Nice of them to cover it... Headers, Tune and such usually allows them to come up with an excuse.

Hopefully they will see fit to cover the cam as well.

I was surprised they didn't give me any hassle about it. I know I saw another thread where they covered it for the guy and all he had to pay was like $128 for r/r for the headers.

I noticed ticking at cold startup maybe a few times in the first month I had my car. I changed the oil and it's only happened a few more times in the past 5 or 6 months. Now it's back and starting last week it's done it very 2 or 3 cold starts. Oil level is fine, guess I'll be taking it back in to the dealer that did my trans work in the next week or 2. The trans repair they did seems to be working out great so far, so I doubt I'll have any problem, just the hassle of having to leave the car overnight again and hope that it ticks on start up.

That sounds exactly how mine was, it just eventually went past that to ticking all the time.

Glad they took car3e of it for you.

This is one of my main worries with my G8.. God forbid if mine fail because the dealers suck ass around here so I cannot rely on them at all.

It is great to hear that all of this was covered under warranty. Let us know how the rest of the service goes.

My car ticks at almost every cold start. Has since new though. I'm not too worried because it's quiet after that initial tick.

I'm going all in in a few months with cam, heads, intake and everything so it just needs to last a few more thou... lol

Just a little update. Last week they replaced all of the lifters and one of the push rods which was bent. The tech was still hearing a faint ticking and spent some time trying to figure out what the cause is. So they decided to replace the cam, got a call this morning saying the cam is on back order and they are going to have to have one made. It's a really good thing they're covering the rental car otherwise I'd go broke just trying to pay for it.

Just picked up my car.
They replaced all lifters, #7 push rod which was bent, and the cam.

So happy to have it back. That rental impala was driving me crazy.
