Painted my calipers today, pretty easy I just bought the brush on kit from dupli-color.. it seemed to lay down really good with a nice little shine. Also it dried really fast so it went pretty fast. Put on 3 good coats

Ignore the mess the car is in, plan to clean it up really good this weekend! Then I can take some better pictures outside:woohoo:

Looks good, Did you use a kit specifically for calipers? If so what is it and where did you get it?

I want to do this too because otherwise mine are just going to rust and look like hell. I'm thinking of black or silver.

I want to do it when I take the winters off. Two birds one stone...

Good job, the calipers and brackets look so much better painted. I'm definitely doing mine when the weather gets warmer.

Norm he used the Dupli-Color brake caliper painting kit and you can get it at most auto parts stores.

G2 makes a killer epoxy based kit that doesnt discolor overtime.

Thats it. I bought 2 red kits when I got the car and have yet to get to it. I plan on doing the brackets in black G2 if they dont look good in silver. I will also completely remove them from the car when I do it. It sucks being picky!

The G2 kit is much better than the Dupli-Color kit, it's longer lasting and won't chip as easily. It costs more and is hard to find locally, but it's easy to find online and well worth the extra cost. The G2 kit is usually around $35 and the Dupli-Color kit is about $20 or so.

Tire Rack sells it and ships fast.

yes i used the g2 kit it goes on super smooth and only takes 2 coats looks great very easy to keep clean only set back you have to let the paint cure for 24 hours before driving that sucks:bm:

Haha I was thinking about putting brembo on them but there is no place big enough on the fronts to put it... and if I wanted brembo brakes I would buy the real thing

Norm it is Dupli-Color caliper paint it comes in a kit with your paint and cleaner, I bought it at Canadian Tire, you can buy caliper paint at pretty much any auto store like DRCUSTOMPARTS said

I agree. Another vote for the G2 kit. I painted the front/rear calipers on my 99 Cobra in their bright blue, and it looked outstanding for ~4 years with no discoloration at all. It also dried with zero brush strokes.

Highly recommended.

Great to know, if the stuff I put on starts to fade I will pick up some G2 paint and go over it

I just used some spray-on caliper paint on my G8 (red, calipers only left brackets silver-will eventually do them in black). I used the brush on (black) on my TA, and some clear, but it's slowly faded and chipped off in one spot so I'll probably stick w/ rattle cans.

Car looks good though!

Not highjacking thread but adding to it!

I always do the otuter edge of the rotors and hub area just to prevent rust. I am talking about the area from brake surface to where the rim meets the hub.

I have mine completely off the car now and one coat of G2 has been done and sanded with 400/600. I will so the second one sometime this week and post pics. I didnt do the brackets. I will keep silver and take pics, if I dont like they will be black.

It's A G8!

The only thing I dont like is for the caliper to look like an orange peel after painting it. Im guessing that's why your sanding yours down Charlie?

The caliper is textured so it gives that effect, but painting and sanding smoothes it some, but I did it to use the 1st coat as a primer so they will be really RED.

I see lots of folks have used G2, but how about Dupli-Color? Can anyone give review of this product please?

I used Dupli-Color on my both of my Grand Prix's and it held up really well. I cleaned the calipers and brackets with brake cleaner and a wire brush and it never peeled off. You do have to be careful because it chips easily if you bump it with a wheel when installing it, but if it did I would just touch it up and it looked good again.

The G2 is a very durable epoxy based paint. It is good for 950 degrees vs. Duplicolor is 450 I believe. I noticed the Duplicolor seems to discolor or change color a little bit if the brakes get hot frpm aggressive driving.

I used DupliColor on the calipers for my Corvette. Red calipers with black brackets. I prepped the parts by sandblasting and used a high temp primer before spraying the color.

The paint has held up great. I abused the crap out of the brakes at a HPDE track event to the point where I melted the dust boots on the caliper pins and the paint didn't fade or discolor at all.
