Center console light?

Is there a light in the 08 center console like in the glove box bc i have something that resembles the light but i dont see how it would turn on or off? And does anyone know how to take these out?

to be honest, I never even looked in my center console to see if I have the same light.

It is a light in a 07 VE Calais so would be available as a Holden Part.It was deleted in later models.

That's a Bimmer thing that GM (smartly) copied! Buick is using them now too.

The parts listing shows a light for the console, as well as a light for the glovebox in the 08' year of the car. I have been looking to get the parts to install the glovebox, but am also considering the console, too.

I noticed that before when I went looking for the glove box light parts. I couldn't find a price or part # but the diagrams showed it. Thought about using the glove box parts, (looked the same) but haven't got around to it. What about a harness? Just wondering where the power comes from. Thanks Paul for all your help.

Yeah, in GM's parts catalog, they have no part numbers for the console or footwell lights. I think they were gonna add them but decided not to as well as nav. I think Paul said there is no harness for the console. These lights are for "export" only. If you want a light in the console, you have to do it custom.

The guy who did the write-up says the 11015639 Bulb (22W bulb) is too bright if you use the Clear Lamp option in the centre console.
A 38mm long (measured tip to tip) festoon bulb of lower wattage would be required.

Paul, Do you have a kit for the console light like you do for the glove box (deal 39)?

You use the same parts for glovebox light as for a centre console light.
Only difference is the glovebox harness main plug has nothing to connect to in the console.....so cut the main group connector off the glovebox harness and just wire in the power and the ground wire from it. The glovebox harness can still used to connect the power to the switch to the lamp in the console bin.
Check to make sure you have the lamp and switch blanks currently in your console, new parts are a pain to fit if you dont. Console design changed and the latter bins don't have the rectangular holes with blanks.

You can add a light there with a toggle for when you open and close it. That does not exist on the 09 or 09.5. Greg Was with wasslow.com might be able to help. I think its the same part for the glove box light kit I added to my 09.5 GXP.
