So, i had no plans on buying this car as I am quite happy daily driving my GXP, but i was looking at my current mileage (107k) and thought, hmm. maybe it makes sense to get a small more fuel efficient vehicle.

My wife has an old GM card that she hasn't used in years. They sent her a promo that "topped" off her card bonus to 2k and allowed her to use all 2k when the Cruze usually only allows 1k to be used. Additionally, they sent her a "promotional offer" which added another 1k that could be used against any car. Plus they are running rebates around 500.

This dealership had an "add" car that they get as a teaser to bring people into the dealership and hopefully upsell them on a higher trim model. It is a 2013 Cruze LS with 6MT. Perfect for me, as i still have my GXP.

Long story short, we ended up purchasing the car on Saturday for a STEAL. Its actually not a half bad car to drive. Pretty comfy, nicely laid out interior. Has power everything, bluetooth, steering controls, ect. Sure, it lacks a bit in the power department, but I am ok with that. It feels much larger space wise than it actually is, seating my wife and I quite comfortably. There is reasonable space in the back for a couple adults.

Overall, pretty happy with the purchase.

Don't worry, i didn't get rid of the GXP and I have no plans on doing so, just keeping some mileage off her.

We want to trade the girls cobalt in for one eventually. They seem like nice cars!

I have serviced quite a few of them and they seem to be pretty damn good overall.

I've had a Cruze Eco 6M since May and really like it. Right now it's got 26k in only 9 months, but I've averaged 43.3 mpg since new. Good luck with your LS.

my step son has had one for about 6 months, and he's real happy with it. I was quite surprised at the features and quality, definitely not a Cobalt or Cavalier!.

If they sold one that looked more like this, with the power to match, I would be getting one too.
I have to say, the Cruze does have a nice body design.
Congrats on the deal!

Thanks all. I have to say after a couple days of driving it, the ride quality is quite impressive.

These smaller cars have come a long way. Living in California, you see tons of Corollas and Civics. With all due respect to those cars, their interiors are a bit dated, and the ride quality is about the same on the civic, worse on the corolla.
Its amazing the amount of standard features on a BASE car. To get bluetooth and steering controls on a base car is saying a lot.

Honestly, if i had the choice, i would have opted for the 1.4T instead of the base 1.8NA, as from everything i have read, the 1.4T gets far superior gas mileage, but going from my usual 18mpg in the GXP to low 30s in the Cruze is fine with me.

Thanks for the support :)
GM makes them in the town I live in. I have many friends that work there, and my father retired from that plant a few years back.

I have yet to drive one :(

Congratulations on your new purchase! It sure does give you more mileage for your money.

My son got a LTZ RS last year and it has been rock solid. Plenty of creature comforts and great gas mileage. These are well built cars.

I am a fan. Been eyeing one for a while as a DD or a Sonic. I worked on both, very solid rides. I had an LTZ for two weeks. Really liked it.

A few friends / coworkers have Ecos too.

Cruze is solid...I bet you got it for a steal.

We also looked at the Sonic, but it was a tad small for what we needed. I preferred the interior of the Cruze anyway. They were approximately the same price.

Honestly, i was SHOCKED that they were willing to sell us the car for the price we ended up paying. I just kept saying to my wife, there is NO WAY they can afford to sell it to us for that. But sure enough, they did..

Added benefit: This is Southern California. You don't see to many American cars on the road. I get soo sick of seeing Hondas and Toyotas (or BMWs/Mercs in OC). Its nice to drive American!

Congrats on the purchase! I've been eyeing one up myself as well for a DD car. For what you get, they really seem to have a decent amount of options on the base and also available. I'll have to look into the 1.4T compared to the 1.8 if the mileage is that much different since I have roughly a 50 mile commute one way.

Just bought the 1LT with the 1.4T 6M today! I wasn't really looking for this car as I actually went in to test drive the diesel. But that diesel was LOUD and the turbo was quite a bit cheaper. The best part... I found out that PatG can tune the Cruze :D Can't wait for that. Should help me get my manual driving up to snuff before the G8 lives again. I was actually planning on pulling out the ECU today to ship off for tuning, but I ended up driving to Denver for this car. Got the Tungsten Metallic with pretty much no options, but the turbo is a hoot around town. Tunes and turbo upgrades are already commercially available but I need to show some restraint for a while.

The diesel is loud? Haven't driven an older Merc or VW have you?

You don't say... I drive past the plant every time I transit between DC and Chicago. I could probably save some dough in shipping for the CC crew.

Coming from someone with a cam, supercharger, longtubes that made me laugh!

Enjoy the new car.

The thing that would make me look at the gas version would be the simple fact that the diesel is close to $30k after taxes and fees. Fuck that.

I'd rather buy the Cruze than an equivalent VW Jetta. That's around the same price that a Jetta Diesel is with the same options anyway...

Congrats on the cruze... I would also probably get the manual.... even though my project over the last couple years has been to get Toledo plant up to speed on making the trans for the cruze, sonic, Impala, equinox, etc... We have made over 1.5 million of these so far....... and don't see an end in sight...

If Chevy made the cruze in AWD with that diesel engine and a manual trans I would trade my g8 in the next day.
Or if the turbo v6 CTS was available in awd with a manual I'd trade the g8 in in a heart beat.
Until then I'll run the g8 on nice days. And plot a way to make it awd. Haha
