what is all this "the first 888" that i keep reading about randomly and see dash plaques for? how do i know if mine is one of these. i have tried to run my vin on that compnine website like i have done all my cars to find its build date and such, but it can not pull anything up on my car for the first time.

The first 888 were the first 888 production vehicles noted by the plaque installed in the vehicle. You would know you have one without any doubt. No other such plaque's are installed on the vehicle unless some deviant made one for themselves:)

They think they're special LOL. But the first 888 is reserved for those who own one of the first 888 G8's with VIN sequence from #001 to #888 (last three digits of VIN).

ahh okay.. i saw that third shift studios made "first 888" plaques which was wondering...hmm maybe i got one

My license plate came from the dmv. (888-SRT) I found that humorous, considering I dont have one of the first 888.

Not true.
If we go by your example, every 1000 cars built there would be 888 cars with a vin that ended in #001 to #888.

Mine is L988334. The 1st 888 cars have a unique vin identifier. Go check your vin number now.
No other cars have a L98XXXX, but the 1st 888.
