Watch up through number 1 in this Top 10 Worst Crash Tests video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-x3UTROQajk

Date on the car in the final frames is 09/06/92. If it's in Aussie date format, that means it's June 9th.

I actually just shared this video with a friend on Facebook who does own an F150 of that generation or thereabouts.

Listen here you. From the "Thread Name" I thought you had smashed The Yak. Don't do that to an old man. :)

I tried to be careful about the thread title specifically to avoid that. Originally it was just "I am VERY glad our cars are safe", but I thought that might get people worried. Next time I'll add even more disclaimers! :)

I don't know I think the #2 is worse than 1st place
Yeah, true. That VW van turns into a pancake!

holy crap!!!!!! i think all the vehicles from the ford on to number one were made of tin foil or toilet paper holy shit. i think that you would be safer in the bed of the vw bus then if you were in the cab. damn

Now none of these vehicles are US spec though correct? I know US has a higher standard in crash tests than most of the world. That's why they don't import some cars here and they all have to have reinforced bumpers. But I agree with previous poster, don't scare the crap out of me Kevin, thought you crashed the Yak. Correct me if I'm wrong on my previous statement.

I also agree #2 was worse than #1.

I always thought US crash test ratings were much more lienent than Canada's. Isn't that the reason the new GTO's could not me imported into Canada due to the bumper crash test rating?

If the frames per second was the same for #1 and #2, then I see why #1 took the trophy. Otherwise, yea #2 could have easily won the top spot!

A friend did some research, apparently that's an ooooold Holden. At least a few decades. So not '92. That was also back when the Commodores were based on an Opel chassis. So the Commodore has come a long way since then, thankfully.

This has been known for some time actually. I have that generation of F150 but in a standard cab short bed 4x4 configuration. The problem was they removed a lot of the structural rigidity when they made it a Super Cab.

That Commodore was MAAAAAAD smashed!

Ah, good to know! My friend has the standard cab, RWD only. The base model with the V6, basically.

What is a Holden Commerdore?
Yeah, I know, right?

The only problem is that the test shown above of the older Commodore was done for other reasons, not just crash testing.
Here's the video alone. Look at the comments below it stating that a bunch of sand ballast was added for testing the wall, not the car.

Flew about 70 ft through the air, hit the trees and came to rest upright in a ditch:

And there's nothing wrong with me, I'm perfectly sane!

Here's the relevant crash test for our cars.
October 2009 the entire range of VE models received sufficient upgrades to achieve 5 star (maximum) rating.
The VF goes even further with knee airbags fitted.
