Ok guys weird question. I have custom sheet metal valve covers and im wondering where do I install my catch can? Covers have no pvc provisions. Or can I use the ls2 valley cover.

You could weld a bung into the back side like the stockers... you could do it off valley cover but air flow and cleanout may not be as good as having incoming air and exiting air across the engine.

There's a bit more to it than that.
First you need some kind of baffle or deflector underneath the new outlet, so that oil droplets don't get a straight shot out of the hole.
Then inside the outlet nipple you need a restrictor or orifice only about 3mm in diameter.
If the OP still has AFM hardware he cannot just swap out the valley cover to LS2 or LS3 with it's own PCV system underneath.

Chris, just let me know if it's ever coming across as arrogant & I'll rein it in a bit.

No car is down for 404 stroker build so afm is gone. Can I use the nipple on tge valley plste?

Definately, that's what it's there for. The PCV system under the LS2/LS3 valley plate should work better than the original rear drivers side valve cover orifice arrangement used with AFM.
So you can leave your new drivers side valve cover intact.
Your new passengers side valve cover will need an entry nipple at the front for the fresh air supply to crankcase....this nipple connects by hose or 3/8 tube to the intake piping anywhere between the front of the throttle blade and the MAF.
Inside the passengers side valve cover you'll need a baffle or deflector over the entry hole at the front.
(Go look at your OEM passenger side valve cover and copy that).

You could add the RX breather cap and catch can system as well. In certain scenarios you cap off that passenger valve cover barb.

Hey paul why couldnt you have fresh air go in at valley cover (due to his style valley cover) and exit off welded on bung off drivers side valve cover (assuming there is some baffle gaurding to stop oil from splashing out).. and then do catch can off that port? different but seems overall basically about the same....

I wouldn't
a) Because the valve cover orifice is inferior to the under valley cover PCV system
b) Because the baffling under the valley plate will restrict the fresh air flow...you want air to flow in as freely as it can.
c) Because fresh air entering the central valley would most likely take the easiest path and skip across the top of the denser crankcase cases and exit up thru your drivers side valve cover.....instead of flushing from the top down and mixing with the crankcase gases as per GM design.

P.S. With your challenging approach to traditional flow directions I'm quite certain I don't wan't to know where you insert your sandwiches.

I dont do it this way but just was curious... currently I dont have working pvc system and only vent.... i dont like it this way but unfortunately most high hp track guys dont and they swayed me to do it this way...... but then again , they rebuild their engines every season.. :)... I am going to redo mine with the rx catch can and pipe it correctly or the traditional pvc way... thx for the explanation...
ps... regarding the sandwiches.... its a good way to keep my weight down eating them this way :)

Qurstion. Do I need the fresh air to crank case. Is it a must?

To have a proper PVC system, you need a fresh air source absolutely... some places are better than others... and as previously noted the best place is the valve cover as paul mentioned... I have been running without one but this is part of my issue... which I will be fixing before i drive the car in the spring...

Can I just stick a breather on the cover for fresh air to tge crank case?

Most of the Rx can guys dont run it exactly this way but it also may not be legal for emissions.... There are so many different ways to pipe it. The Rx cans seem to make sense to me and they dont get the fresh air source like the oem. Not saying the Rx can guys are right or wrong, but the theory seems a bit different but seems like it is better than not having a PVC system but not exactly like oem (such as valve cover fresh air source is blocked off... maybe also read the Rx can stuff to see if any of that makes sense. Just cause the OEM did it a certain way doesnt mean its 100% right especially because if they did, we wouldnt be discussing catch cans at all would we?.. the stock way allows oil into intake so who can say that the OEM way is optimum.... if they designed it that way, who's to say the rest of the "designed" system is optimal.
I am going to do it the way the Rx can guys say to do it I am sure it will be good. Also it makes a difference which valley cover have, etc....

It's all very simple.
You either run a sealed system using all the fresh air and foul air connection points as designed by GM....only inserting a catch can inline of the foul air tube.
OR you run a vented system.....blanking off fresh air supply & venting from wherever you want. There are consequences with this method.
You don't run 1/2 and 1/2.

I don't run a can. I am vented.

Im just going to drill tge cover and add a an bulkhead for freah air and use the valley plate to connect my catch can to intake
