Hey Guys,
Looking at MAYBE becoming a 2 G8 family. :cheers: Girl Friend was looking online and found a GT at one of your dealerships. Is anyone willing to possibly go check it out to see if it is even worth driving down there and truly checking it out? Online it says it has 97,000 miles for $14,000. Lots of miles I know but she does not care about that. I think she is thinking that I will fix what whatever needs work since I do my own maintenance on my G8. :)
I will let you know where it is just as soon as we can find out what dealership it is.

This is a very nice looking low priced SBM with sunroof.

Might be too far for you though.

I dropped in and looked the car over. It came out of the Hickory area and has been modded. Car is debadged. The paint is swirled and has some light scratches, nothing that can't be fixed. The right side mirror cap has no shine at all. There's a lot of paint chipped off around the edge of the right rear wheel well. Almost looks like somebody tried to roll the fender but didn't heat the paint enough. Headlights need polishing bad!
The wheels look factory new. Whoever had the car kept aftermarket wheels on it and the stockers in storage. Tires are Kuhmos and in good shape.
Exhaust has been modded. Center muff is gone and it has aftermarket muffs in the back. Nice sound though!
Gas cap door is missing. Part on order along with the drivers side seat base (it's broken off).
Interior looks good except for the rear seat bottom cover. Something was spilled and stained the leather. They say they have something coming to fix it. I say replace it.
The airbag looks like it was removed and the trim not reinstalled correctly. I have pics.
Important stuff:
She cranked right up. Engine was very quiet. No lifter noise. No alternator whine. Quieter than my GT was. Engine was dirty, but looked good otherwise. No leaks, and no leaks noted under the car.
Tire pressures were all wonky. 45 on the right front, 27 everywhere else. No air hose nearby, so we went around the block. Tranny shifted quietly into R & D. Car drove very well and straight (in spite of the tire pressures). Makes me wonder how well it would do if that were corrected!
Suspension was tight and quiet. No LCA noise.
Tranny shifted very well. I would say this car had been tuned.
I did notice that although the engineering mode showed the AFM was active, I could not feel it or hear a change in the exhaust note. Would a DOD delete still result in the display showing normal activation?
No drone, but I did not take it on the interstate because of the tires.
They have a carfax, but I didn't look at it.

The mods would concern me unless I had a good tuner. No telling who did it originally.
If they get the parts and clean it up, for $14k it's not bad. Just a lot of miles and unknown mods.

They have been getting some interest. Somebody took it for a drive while I was busy showing mine off to the salesman. Somebody else came down from WV to look at it but financing fell through.

Thanks so much guys for helping me try to get my GF into a G8. She only wants black with sun roof but I think her price limit is what's going to hurt her chances. That's why that first one for $15,000 was looking promising.
