Unfortunately it won't all be as quick and easy as I had hoped. Due to coordination and scheduling issues I will get the car back with a preliminary tune which will leave some timing on the table. I won't get the final tune until Kirk can get down here to do it. Apparently he's in town today but the install isn't finished. Just a bit of shitty luck; goes right along with the way the rest of my life has been going lately.

Wow you sure have done alot of mods on your car in a short period of time. I'd love to put in the maggie, but I dont have 6500 bucks to spend on it. Actually I do but the wife says we need to finish the house before I can do any major mods.

I guess i could always go against her wishes :nud: ummm maybe not

Anyway I'm green with envy and wish you the best of luck. Can't wait to hear the numbers. :zing:

Random thoughts:

1- The engine compartment is REALLY full now, basically no more room.
2- It's loud. More so because I had to pull the hood blanket off due to the pulley hitting it.
3- Oil change (blower oil) is going to be a major bitch, no way to access plug with blower mounted.
4- I still think a moron designed the intake location. No way to change it, no room.
5- underdrive pulley wouldn't work, had to go back to stock pulley.

Looks good Tom. I do not like the intake setup on it though. Anyone word on when you getting a tune? Would love to see some numbers. Im deciding on this kit and the mp1900for a long term mod.

Tom, hope it works out with the setup you ended up with. Like you said, just isn't much room left. Looks like the turbo's might be the way to go just because of the issues you discussed. Prochargers make a shit load of power when set up right. Good luck and get ur done.

wreckwriter
02-09-2009, 07:28 AM
don't get me wrong, although there is very little room left, there are also very few things I might need to add. Only thing I can think of is meth injection, that would probably have to be either trunk mount or use the washer fluid reservoir.

Found a solution to the oil change issue. seems guys that run PCs on boats rarely have room so they use an electric pump to pump the oil out the fill hole. $15 for the pump!

I think I'll have Brent pull the snail off and change it the regular way the first time to see if there's any gear teeth etc lurking but after that I'll be pumping.

Enjoy it! You are going to be having some SERIOUS traction issues, but given the gearing on this car, I think that this blower is DEFINITELY the way to go for dragstrip times (vs a roots blower). A heavily modded maggie car is going to be a lot harder to launch. Now, you will blow the tires off once you're a bit out of the hole, but thats a different issue!

wreckwriter
02-09-2009, 06:30 PM
Further note- I was able to retain my catch can due to the jury-rigged mount system I used with the Elite Corvette can. The mount James' cans use will NOT work with a ProCharger.

Gonna have to learn how to back peddle. Lots of open road to see how she behaves.

wreckwriter

I have very little open road, will just have to figure it out. i will though, guaranteed.

Vertical
02-10-2009, 05:03 AM
Yea open road is kind of hard to come by down here. I suggest you look at some of the airport service roads. The ones that have access are rarely monitored as they are barely used outside of normal hours.

Those and maybe the side roads to your bigger highways (595, Turnpike etc..).

Of course, be safe out there with all that power:flame:

What's going on with your under-drive pulley? I might be interested.

I haven't picked up my spare parts yet from the shop; life has been hell lately, but I expect I'll be selling it, along with a few other mods that had to be removed.

So I assume no tune yet? I'm going to hold off, (all the overtime at work cut cut off a few months ago) a blower is my next mod too, I think I'm going to go with the Magnacharger 1900 though.

I like the Maggie over the others the appearance (looks less cluttered) and
that you can get a powertrain warranty with it.
