ICK! i live in KY and we don't require the front lic. plate...but most of the cars we get come from OHIO where it's required. PLEASE tell me this plate holder isn't bolted to the front of the car?????

at the dlr. I requested mine not be put on, but Ive been pulled over by state troopers twice for it.

It does give them probable cause. :(

It's not bolted, it's riveted.

Yep! Drill the rivets out and it falls off! The little caps I installed. Morons were told NOT to install it. TWICE!

OMG i would murder someone...thanks for the heads up. Those caps look ok for a black car, but i feel bad for anyone with a differnt color

Yeah, front plates required here as well. I asked my salesperson not to let them put it on. When the car came in she went down to the dude prepping it and took it out of his hands and called me while she was doing it! :)

Find one from another state. That's what I'm going to do when it comes time for me to get one in a few months.

KNOCKING ON WOOD.......

My tint is technically illegal and I have no front license plate and I've stayed off Johnny Law's radar screen so far. But I do know that I'm gonna take it up the ass when I finally do get pulled over, but I'm willing to take it to keep from having to put anything on the front of the car.

+1 I actually was speeding one day in my Z28 with illegal tint... got pulled by a state trooper... he gave me the choice... speeding ticker or illegal tint ticket.... I took the illegal tint! :woohoo:

I hate front plate usually... not too bad on this car. Cannot get on base without it though.

Mine is screwed in, not riveted. I only know this because I took it off after delivery, only to have to put it back on after getting pulled over twice (I think they just wanted a better look at the car.

A plate on the front of a new car is a deal breaker for me. I will walk away from the dealership, right then and there. That is MY choice not theirs.

Any ideas on how to obey the law with the front plate and still have it looking good?

Don't mind the headers.

This is an Altec kit that mounts under the bumper and is electric. With the press of a button it retracts and goes under the car. Go to a car show and put it away. Drive on the street and have it up. Wait to get pulled over for no plate and flip it up as the officer walks up and tell him he must be mistaken and for him to check again.LOL

Okay, I couldn't find in on the web. Can you tell me where you purchase one?

Pay no attention to the fact that it's a Ford site, it's merely a technicality. The first one is power with a remote. http://www.ninosport.com/Altec-Remote-Control-Show-n-Go-Retractable-License-Plate-Holder-400EU;jsessionid=0a01074d1f43d0cae581fde1437fb92da 2460f0c112f.e3eTaxaQbxmTe34Pa38Ta38Nbhz0?sc=1&category=-101
The second one is a manual retract. http://www.ninosport.com/Altec-Show-n-Go-License-Plate-holder-400U?sc=1&category=-101
Hope this helps you out.

I've got that on my car as well.

My dealer had them already installed. I didn't want to have to fill holes in my new car, so instead of removing it, I blinged my up.

Any suggestions on what I can do with the holes drilled in my car? I didn’t ask the dealer to install the bracket to hold the front plate but they did so anyway. I live in TN but bought the car from a dealer in MO. I had it shipped to my home last Thursday. From the online pictures it wasn’t on the car before.

The way I received the car

http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq261/blair1955/DSC01935.jpg

The license plate holder wasn’t even mounted right in the first place

http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq261/blair1955/DSC01963.jpg

At this point it looks worse without the plate than with.
thanks... :uhm:

Wow.... can't beleive they went thru the trouble to put that on a used car. Douches....

Do a search on it, some people have put some plastic plugs in there that don't look too bad. Otherwise, it can be fixed at a body shop to look unmolested.

Competent body man ought to be able to fix that at a reasonable cost with no problem.

Well guys took her to one body shop where they told me to do a correct repair they would have to totally remove the front bumper fill the holes and repaint and then clear coat. I don’t know that seems extreme. I’ll weigh my options before I decide what I’m going to do. Until then I replaced the bracket and will find a nice Pontiac or G8 plate for the front. The car still looks great even with the front plate but would have looked better without. On a positive note last night I had a young guy in his “rice burner” try to pass me. It didn’t happen! I knew what he was going to do and that was to pass me then hang a right hand turn at the next intersection. He and I both turned right and again he tried to pass me and for a couple of seconds he stayed beside me then disappeared in my rear view mirror. I live in a small town and to the best of my knowledge there is only one other G8. I think most people have no idea what’s under the hood. I even stopped in one place to check on a CAI and the guy asked me what kind of fuel economy I got with it around 30 mpg? No more like 18 combined city / hwy. He must have thought I had a small V6 in it or something. I’m loving the car and the guys at the gas station are loving me….oh and that 18 combined hopefully that will come up to 22 or so when I learn how to drive like a normal middle aged man again. :D
