These kits will be shipping out in February. $140.00 shipped anywhere in the USA Priority mail. Here is on the list:
4GASEM, Art708, 99-LS1-SS, G8GT721, G8GTlawride. Just post "I WANT" and here is the PayPal info GameMaster1967@aol.com

Please add your forum name to the paypal payment so I can track who paid.

These make using different engine covers and coil covers a much nicer install without cutting the new covers.

Allows removal of black intake cover to reduce heat soak and gets the hot hoses off of the fuel rail. Plus its PRETTY! lol

I did a DIY post on the install with lots of pics.

This kit helps "unclutter" the top of the engine.

The reason I have been holding off is the billet holders wont fit if the hoses are even 1mm bigger and the heat sleeves might have 1 mm, but then there is no room for expansion. The next size up for either is WAY to big.

SpeedRacerX

OK, so having read this thread, I guess I'm still going to ask a stupid question - or maybe several. Bear with me.

Other than visual and maybe sound, are you saying that the stock engine cover and the other fake plenum cover do nothing else beneficial for our cars? In fact, they evidently make matters worse - performance wise - because they hold heat in or add to Heat Soak??

Is there more engine noise without the cover?

Who the $*&^ designed that? I was under the hood yesterday (well actually almost every day) and the stock ones look like crap and sit right there in a high heat / high part content area. Weird.

Also, without the stock covers on and with the new kit in place, would it make sense to open up (even more than stock) those hood vents to let that heat out?

Finally, in what colors can these be fabricated?

Thx.

GRRRR8
05-26-2009, 12:02 PM
A little more noise then stock from the DOD lifters. They only come in black.

The heater hoses sit on the fuel rail and the intake. Once you remove the sound cover from the intake for heatsoak issues you wouldnt want the hot heater hoses sitting on the intake. Not to mention it really cleans up how it looks. :)

If I remove the beauty/noise intake cover does the heater hose mod HAVE to be done.

I ask because I am planning on doing the intake mod and was going to leave the hoses. If this is going to be a huge issue then the hoses need to be swapped out.

Thanks.....

GRRRR8

No it wont melt it, but the main reason for removing the cover is heat and you will be leaving the hot hoses. If you use coil covers, now you insulate the heat in a different way.

No it wont melt it, but the main reason for removing the cover is heat and you will be leaving the hot hoses. If you use coil covers, now you insulate the heat in a different way.I am planning on using the two piece engine covers. I am feeling that I should just go ahead and swap out the hoses in the first place here and then also not have to modify the covers for the OEM hoses. Do have a set in stock?

What are they wrapped with between the two rings?

What are they wrapped with between the two rings?

A corrugated aluminum heat shield material on both hoses. It's where they get the closest to the manifolds or headers.

GRRRR8
09-18-2009, 04:36 PM
Correct. It is a 750 degree heat shield. Didnt want to take a chance and it gets very hot in that area. Works like a champ. I am guessing these hoses have lived up to the test as so many have then and some have put many miles on them.

Thanks. The funny thing is I never planned on doing more then one set, same with the bolt kits. A few mods I talk to regularly were told of a project I was doing and they wanted them without seeing them! lol

The Billet Specialty pieces and Thermo-tec sleeve I use always have to be special ordered and what make the price go up.

I have put headers on with them in place if that helps answer your question. :)

They could be disconnected at the heater core with very little coolant loss as well very quickly if you just had to have more room. I have changed plugs on mine with headers and did not move them.

I have your hoses installed and have a quick question for you. I have the roto fab eng. covers and the hoses sit on top of the passenger side cover. Do you forsee any problems w/this. I wasn't sure if the hoses would get very hot and possibly hurt the engine covers. It's a pretty tight fit to get the covers under the hoses.

Hey Charlie,

I am thinking of doing this in steps as I eventually want to replace the engine covers, please let me know if this makes sense

1---install your hoses and a new T-Stat
2---sometime after remove that heatshield on top of the intake
3---then install the new Holden or Roto Fab engine covers....

Thanks, Dave
