I just received some install pictures from a customer in Australia that I figured I would post (with permision).

This customer purchased a complete set of CTS-V calipers 6 pot front and 4 pot rear. He had me send them to Mike the powder coater for a custom job that turned out great as his work always does.
Customer also requested the new 2-piece front ZL1 rotors. After fixing a GM mixup the parts are installed and working wonderful.

Now for the eye candy!

Can you share the cost of the Brembos assy all around + powder coating + 2 piece rotors ?

loks really nice. just 2 piece on the front? any advantage to the 2 piece?

I think a 2 piece setup allows for a lighter hub.....like Aluminum hub and Steel rotor disc for the fiction part. Typically the thermal expansion is an issue so they can't bolt the two together, but they handle this by using dowell type inserts all around that allow the disc to float radially with respect to the hub. This will allow the steel disc and Aluminum hub to expand at their own rate under heat without fighting each other......

You sold me on "thermal expansion", Greg what is the price difference for the two piece compared to the one piece and what is the price for the pins and clips for the 6 pot brembos.
Thanks!

Well Front kit is about $1824.00 with the 2 piece rotors, rear kit is $593.00, coating is about $350.00 plus shipping for all 4 calipers.

The 2 piece rotors have directional venting compared to the 1 piece rotors on the CTS-V so they should stay cooler.

The 2 piece rotor is acutally about 2 pounds heaver than the dual cast 1 piece rotor on the CTS-V. The one piece rotor has an aluminum cast hat and a steel rotor, but it is cast together and not bolted as the 2 piece units are.

The 2 piece rotors are about $100.00 more each compared to the 1 piece units ($343 ea)

Ugh I wish we got the wagon here. Although his choice of red does nothing for me. I think I'm red brake fatigued. Other than that it is a spectacular setup/wagon.

Greg, thanks for facts. So the advantage of the 2 piece is in the cooling fins and not weight....

Sorry those are the only ones that got sent to me.

I hope I can get the price down once GM releases the ZL1 Camaro Conversion kit. If the price is good that will justify not using all the parts in the kit.
There is also a rear caliper kit that might bring the price down on the rear calipers also.

Do we have an ETA on this kit and how much it might cost, on the camaro5 forum it seemed like the pricing was going to be very reasonable.

There is no pricing listed anywhere yet from GM, but the part number is listed in the system so that is a good sign.
Usually the GMPP kits are about 1/2 the retail price when pieced out, but it is hard to say with the ZL1 parts. The reason I say it is hard to guess a price is because the 6 piston CTS-V calipers are about $370 each and the price of the ZL1 6 piston calipers run about $1026.00 each and that is the discounted forum price and the cost of a single caliper only.

JR09country
11-07-2012, 08:14 AM
Wow that is a big price difference for the same caliper minus paint and a sticker. Hopefully the price on the rotors will drop, even the single piece are crazy high.

Absolutely beautiful brake setup and wagon! I take it the minimum wheel size needed to run the 6 pot setup up front is a 19" wheel? I can only imagine the increase in braking power as well. Very well done. Thanks for sharing!

Nice setup ..Frigging awesome!!
Wish they sent the wagon over when Pontiac existed. The caddy is way too much $$

Hey guys,

Greg form Pace Performance posted the photos on my behalf. I just wanted to say that its been a great experience dealing with Greg and everything has gone smoothly. Ill definitely deal with him again.

The conversion is pretty straight forward; the hardest part was drilling the front hubs from 12 to 14mm but you just need a powerful drill and good drill bit for that. I also had to trim the front and rear disc shields with a 1mm cutting disc on the angle grinder and trim some excess pad material on the rear pads as they hang over the rear DBA HSV 350mm discs (DBA-42031 AU$380) about 4mm.
After bedding the pads in (i used Hawk front and EBC rear), the brakes are amazing. Im really happy with them. The powder coating job is great too.

I also had my rear wheels widened about an inch and a half. As the forged 19" wheels are so cheap over here (i got them for about AU$90 each brand new!), i bought six of them and had a guy part four of them off in a lathe and add width to the rear. They balanced up better than new and run perfectly. Im now running 275's for a bit of a staggered look. I tried 295's but they hit the inner guard and i didnt want to go nuts with a spacer.

Anyway, thanks again to Greg and ill try to get some more photos up if anyone is interested.

Shaun.

Hey,

For those that are interested, ive uploaded some photos i took at work last night. I had to resize them, so theyre not perfect, but hopefully you can view them.
Greg is sending me some valve covers which ill use with a Harrop coil relocation kit to dress up the engine bay a bit. The missus says ill have to get them for Christmas though. Plans are for a Harrop supercharger in the future...........

It's a Holden accessory.....there's one kit for Ser1 & a different kit for Ser2. Neither kit will fit a Pontiac front fascia.

Shaun,
I sent you a Private Message.
Also odd that you have seperate reservoirs for clutch and brake fluid. A friend here has a 2010 SSV Sportwagon with manual trans and his has one combined tank.

Hey Paul,

I sent you a reply to the message; did it not come through?

Is that weird to have a combined clutch and brake reservoir? Surely they wouldn't use the same fluid?
I tried to bleed my clutch the other day but I couldn't find the bleed nipple; any ideas as to where it's located?

Shaun.

Hi Shaun,
Nope, no message arrived.
Yes I thought it was weird to use the same container, they must have rethought it since yours is back to how they've always been.
Here's pics of his late Ser1 VE manual sportswagon.

The bleed comes off the slave a couple degrees higher than the main clutch fluid line.

Hi Shaun,

The Camaros have been using the same res for the clutch and brake since they started makeing them again in 2010.
So of those guys end up installing a small GTO res instead.

I wish I'd known earlier, I have a nice shiny billet clutch reservoir they can use.
I'll gather all the info and post pics in the Camaro section here tomorrow.

LOVE the wagon, would so buy one if it was here in the states!

My question: Where did you get the H&R suspension?
17125

Shaun
11-14-2012, 06:13 PM
Contact Trent at Quadrant suspension in Victoria for the H&R coilovers. They use bilstein mono tube shocks with threaded shock bodies for height adjustability and you use the oem top mounts. They say they're internally comp/rebound adjustable, so no manual adjustment on the top of the shock. I paid $2300 delivered.
I'm happy with them but I did have some noise issues in the rear until I moved the plastic coil wraps further u the spring
Shaun.
