Who would be interested in some 3.7 ratio diff assemblies?
These would be the complete center sections ready to bolt in (case, diff, gears, ect..)
I still need to get a good shipping cost, price would be right at about $1,000. before shipping.

Thanks
Chris

If 3.7 is thought to be a good ratio im in...

It's the ratio that the manual transmission GXP's have. The automatic GXP's have the 3.27. Whether it's a good ratio or not depends on what you are looking for.

For a M6 it is. Very steep for an auto in a DD. Probably OK with a 28in tire in a highly modded N/A car. 3.27-3.45 would be a better choice.

The 3.91 and 3.73 ratios are popular in the GTO world, both in the auto and manual cars.

so dumd question... do the GXP and GT share the same rear diff housing?

I dont see why the wouldnt. If they come out with a different diff housing then it would explain why GM is broke, LOL

The G8s have a 4.02 1st gear ratio with a 6 speed auto. The housings are the same. GXP gets 3.27 with the A6 and 3.70 with the M6.

I hope to have these on my web site within the next day or 2. I just need to get the shipping cost locked down.

They have to be 3.70s? You'll move 3.27s and 3.45 much quicker.

could you even notice the difference for 3.45 to 3.70? (I have never messed with a rear diff before so im not sure on how it makes the car feel)

These happen to be only available in 3.70

Isnt that what the GXP has??

Correct, with the A6.

Got 8?

3.70 would be too much for the 6sp auto. The first gear is too steep. Why do you think the auto and manual GXP's run the same times w/ different axle ratios ??? It would be like putting 4.56's or 5.13 in with a M6 gearbox...Probably great for the 1/8 mile IF you could hook up but not much good for anything else...

3.27.... 3.7 is a little much for my taste and my car isn't even a DD.

I run 4.30s in my DD mustang without any problems. I think 3.70 would be a nice gear for these cars

The guys in Australia love the 3.70 gears, but I'm not sure what ratios they have in the transmissions.

I think the A6 cars are geared perfectly as is, money would be better spent on a billet convertor .

I had 4.30s in mine too, but the T45 gears ratios are not even close to the same. 3.70s with the stock 19s and basically stock motor would be like a granny gear in 1st. You would be shifting instantly. They put 3.27s in the auto GXP for that reason. You would need a decent amount of mods just to use a 3.45 gear and shifting at 6800 to make it worth while.

yeah, I know its completely different cars, but just imagine if you had the whole center section, swap it out in a couple hours, bolt on the 3.7 center chunck with a pair of slicks at the drag strip--should see some decent times/gains

With a 28in tire it would fly for sure!

Can't you just launch from 2nd gear if you get a steep enough rear?

GRRRR8
02-02-2009, 08:53 AM
It defeats the purpose. Now your 2nd gear ratio is higher.

I would thing maybe in a super high HP car this might be worth while.

so whom is gonna be the dummy car to try this? If I had slick I would try in a second but slick wont come until spring when track opens.
