View Full Version : Here is my dilemma...

The car is too quiet... I want to get a catback for sure, but also MAYBE wanna get a set of long tubes.

My question is, if i get a standard catback for the stock exhaust manifolds... then eventually get Longtubes, they wont bolt up right?

What do i have to do then? Get another whole catback (for LTs)? shorten the existing catback? order a certain x/h-pipe?

I dont have ~$1,900 to spend on the LTs and catback right now so i want to piece it together.

Any help is much appreciated

You can get the SLP long tubes, they will bolt up to the factory (and aftermarket) cat back. They are just a bit shorter and have cats on the end of the short collectors.

OR

You can buy ARH (or Kooks) Longtubes with their X-pipes and they go to the axle-backs. You can use your stock axle backs (rearmost mufflers) or buy aftermarket if you want louder.

I am having a similar dilemma. Right now I am leaning ARH and hoping they make the car louder without having to add new mufflers.

+1
I have heard how it sounds in person and all I can say is wow!
Low rumble at idle and a good rumble when you smash the gas pedal!

Charlie you really need to record your exhaust so they can hear it! I was sold!

now i was looking at Vector Motorsports and saw their Kooks headers for $745... is that headers only?? or does it come with the X-pipe?

I see the X-pipe for Kooks headers, but the picture shows that it comes with the axle-backs as well. Can you just order the X-pipe for Kooks headers?

KOOKS is 3 pieces, LTs/X-pipe/mufflers. You would want LTs and X minimum.

The headers for $749 is a 3 piece? So it comes with an X-pipe and Axle back? Maybe im misunderstanding you.

But what i dont see on the VMS site is the X-pipe ONLY. Only the Xpipe with axle back for $757

3 pieces, 3 seperate charges. Unless its changed, which I doubt.

That is the headers only. Then you have to buy the x pipe, catted or offroad, and either retain your stock axle back or buy another. Three separate pieces
1. headers
2. x pipe
3. axle back

$755 - kooks LT
$757 - x pipe/midpipe which is from the headers to front of rear tires
$515 for the axle back which is just mufflers and a tips

1600-1700 for ARH which is from engine to rear tires

Any axle back that bolts to the stock exhaust will work with our system. Just the axleback though you need to use our x-pipe with our headers

The ARH seem the route to go and I am going to start with that first and see if I need axle backs later.
