View Full Version : 97 Camaro wheels fit?
I have a buddy with a 97 Camaro SS and he has a nice set of weld racing wheels up front. They are skinnies. Would those bolt up to the G8?
Bolt pattern wise?
If so I am going to see if he would be willing to let me borrow.
Anybody know?

Bolt pattern is close enough they fit. I'd be concerned w/brakes. Pops, ecobrick bob here, runs a set of 17" wheels that were fitted for a '96 T/A on the rear of his G8 w/drag tires. Bolt pattern is close, but not exact.

Bolt pattern is 5x120.65mm. Close enough for drag wheels, but I wouldn't run them on the road for any length of time.
Many people here use 'Vette wheels for drag, same bolt pattern there as well.
I was looking to use his pizza cutters up front. His rear wheels have way too much tire to fit on my G8.

If you get them cheap yeah they'd work fine for drag passes only IMO. You could also use a couple GTO spares as well, correct bolt pattern for our cars and light as hell compared to stock.

I have GTO 17" x 4" spares, with M & H 185-55-17" fronts for my G8.. Lots of guys are running these.... The bolt pattern is exactly the same as G8. Even after Road Force balancing and Hub rings.... I still get some shake in the front at 60-70 mph on the road. At the strip... you hang on and really don't notice it, though you can feel the vibration when slowing down...
IF you use hub-rings that center the wheels and tighten them slowly... you should have NO PROBLEMS!... but drive it and check it out before stripping...
SHREDMO's Antique cousin ....... don't claim him...

I've been in the wheel business for 15 years. The above statements about the bolt patterns not getting exact is true. If the wheels are installed correctly, you shouldn't feel anything. Older Camaro is 5-120.65mm, and the g8 is 5-120mm. That means the difference is .65 mm divided by 5 lug holes. If you use conical seat lugs, tighten them across the hub (star pattern) and torque them to 100 ft lbs with the car in the air, you shouldn't feel a thing. I sell a black and machined iroc replica with a 5-120.65 bolt pattern on new Camaros ALL DAY without incident.
