So I have been looking at the Circle D lineup and am curious if someone can explain the diff. in the 278mm, the 245 and the 258. The price diff. is fairly significant.

Size of the converter. Larger, more surface area to engage convertor

The smaller the mm the higher stall (258mm 2800 stall vs 245mm 3200 stall) these Re just examples. Also the smaller or higher stall is going to create more heat.

Would it be possible to have a 258mm at a 3000 stall? And would the smaller mm suffice for our cars? What would be the downside other than a lower stall in getting the lesser expensive 258? Thanks guys!

I think circle d can make a 258mm flash to 3k. It's what I think I would want.

Thanks for the replies. Im curious why the higher stall would make for that much of a cost increase. Is the larger disc inside that much of a more efficient and better stall? I have to think the price increase also equals a better/HD/faster convertor. Am I wrong in thinking this?

A 3200 would be a smaller unit. I didn't think there was a price difference.. Are you comparing single vs triple disc?

I have a 3,000 stall Circle D single disc. Believe it's the small disc but you need to ask Chris. It works great. Highly recommend. After running 12 1/4 mi passes in 65 minutes, my tranny fluid finally got to about 220 deg. My best run ever was that last run. Running a B & M tranny cooler. Times should get better as my tune needs tweaking - running on lean side. Car now on blocks for winter.

Are you comparing single vs triple disc? Im comparing the HP series and the Pro Series.

I checked my e-mail with Chris Sehorn.. Mine is a 258 mm Pro II with a single disc. Cost was $895. plus shipping back in April of this year. They shipped directly to my installer.

How would the 278 mm 2600 behave for a dd? Good option?

Sorry, missed this post.....

The OE converter is a 300mm 12" converter, stall is about 1600-1800

278mm HP Series, 2600-3200 range, non billet - good for stock cam or very small cam and street use. - New CDS option.....

258mm Pro Series Billet. ~2500-3500 range. Good for cam, power adders, and street strip use.

245mm Pro Series Billet. ~2800-4500 range. Cam, NA, Small shot, better for more strip use.

Single vs Multi - single for regular cruising lock up, multi for WOT lock up.

And we also make all of our billet fronts in house now, single and multi. Forged and machined in the USA!!

More on those later though....

So a 258mm multi disc converter, 3200 would be perfect for my cam and procharger?

Under 10 pounds on a centrifugal SC you could go with a 245mm if you are looking for the best ET. But if it is more of a DD then the 258mm is the better choice.

Thanks. I'm at 9.5 lbs and may go up in the distant future. Cars sees the track about 5 times a year
