So after reading over about 30 pages on here I was unable to find anyone who has taken the flip key apart. All I did find was a thread talking about taking the pontiac symbol off but looking at my old key it will not work. I bought a blank key from Pace and need to put my old key in the flip part and DO NOT want to break it as I have been using my spare and the transmitter does not work so it is a pain in the ass especially when I unlock it and the alarm goes off everytime. Does anyone have any suggestions because to get the key cut it cost 85 damn dollars which is absurd. I cant stand people ass raping just because they can. Thanks for anyhelp or suggestions fellas.

There is a thread on one of the boards about this. Did you search for key fob? It might be under one of Greg@pace's threads for fob parts.

Here's one:

and another:

Thanks for the reply and links but I need to change the actual flip key and nothing else.

Gently remove the Pontiac logo disc.

Underneath you'll find a screw. Remove the screw.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/PerthPurplePenguin/car%20parts/Keys/P1180217.jpg

Use a small flat blade screwdriver the lift the outer flap of the Tab B.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/PerthPurplePenguin/car%20parts/Keys/P1180216.jpg
The small coil spring will assist in seperating the 2 halves of the clamshell.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/PerthPurplePenguin/car%20parts/Keys/P1180213.jpg

Now you can remove the key blade & carry out your key swap.

For Re-Assembly the small tang on one end of the coil spring must sit in slot.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/PerthPurplePenguin/car%20parts/Keys/P1180211.jpg

You must align the hook of Tab A into the recess for the hook....the 2 halves of the clamshell will swing together around this hook.
When everything is aligned correctly then you can snap shut Tab B.

Tighten up the screw and affix the Pontiac logo back over the screw.

Very small tools required.

Greg @ Pace has the housing that comes with everything you see in CP post above including a blank key. I want to say its 25.88.

CP,
I hate to ask questions after such a detailed post but no matter what I do I now have a flip closed key. I have the tang in right as well as the other side has a slot for spring. Any idea?

Yes the Pontiac Flip Key assembly is cheap enough as Part No 92204549. I can imagine somebody wanting a replacement (approx 15mm diameter) Pontiac logo disc but don't know if this is available.
What you see below are the available parts I know of:

Thanks! My buttons work fine... but the key "flip" no longer functions - I think the spring mechanism busted. Now my key is flaccid... :(

I do have a spare GT key housing. Is it the same as the GXP (sans remote start)?

You are going to be the death of me... First floormats, then this. What's next, an affordable VE conversion?

Is it possible to switch out my key with the blank in this one? I don't know where to get these keys cut around here.

Needing to rebuild mine.. noticed the key doesn't lock that much and spring is a little payed out. Plus the rubber piece is cracking from pushing the buttons the last 3 years.

Thanks for the info Paul! It will be helpful!
