This is for installing the axles shafts only. Gforce 1320 (http://www.shop.gforce1320.com/) gives you the option of getting their whole kit or just the shafts. Depending on your horsepower output, this is a cheaper method for fixing your G8 of wheel hop.

Once you get the half shafts off the car, I used devilish34 (http://forum.grrrr8.net/showthread.php?t=19831&p=292941&viewfull=1#post292941) post to help in that department, it's time to break down the CV joints and place them onto the new shafts.

First step is to remove the clamps. I just used wire cutters. This pic is the inside passenger CV joint on the half shafts for clarification.

Pull the CV boot back to expose the circlip that needs to be removed (straight slot screwdriver works fine) from the green housing (outer race).

Once you remove the circlip, you can pull the inner race, cage, and balls out. Note: the balls will fall out easy so watch out!

Take notice which way the cage is. The larger opening faces the outer race (green housing).

Here is just a pic of the breakdown of the inner/outer race and cage that makes up the CV joint.

Clean up the end of the shaft to expose the C-clamp that needs to be removed to get the inner race off.

Remove inner race and take note of the "flat" grove that is on the inside of the race. This side will go on first when reassembling.

This is a pic to show the difference on the other side. The splines go all the way without a flat spot on the end.

Everything taken apart and cleaned. You only see 6 balls here but there are a total of 8. And YES, the cage is facing the wrong way! The larger opening should be toward the green housing. This is where I goofed up and could not get it back together until I took the drivers half shaft apart to compare.

Time to put back together. Notice how the shaft gets fatter. This is the passenger side. Slide the new boot on. I have blue tape on the shaft to sever two purposes. 1st to protect the powder-coat from any chips I might do and 2nd, to be able to write on it for references.
http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii603/kermitg8/Hafl-%20Shaft%20Axles/GEDC0475.jpg

Slide the cage on with the larger opening facing the end of the shaft where the outer race will be like I said earlier.
http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii603/kermitg8/Hafl-%20Shaft%20Axles/GEDC0486.jpg

Install the inner race and C-clip.
http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii603/kermitg8/Hafl-%20Shaft%20Axles/GEDC0487.jpg

Take the supplied grease and fill each groove on the inner race. Slide the cage over the inner race and place a ball in each opening. The balls will remain in place if you make sure to put plenty of grease in each groove. Don't be stingy. :)
http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii603/kermitg8/Hafl-%20Shaft%20Axles/GEDC0488.jpg

Slide the outer race (green housing) over the cage. Install the circlip back in it's groove to lock the cage in and fill it up with your grease.

Slide the boot over and clamp it down with the supplied clamps. You will need to get a keystone type pliers to properly lock the clamps. I found a cheap one at Auto Zone but it broke when I had one more joint to do. I guess that's why is was cheap. I was able to still somewhat use the pliers on the last joint so just be careful when using them.

Now the outer CV joint is different. All you can do is take the shaft out of the housing. I had to call Gforce to clarify because there was no circlip to remove like on the other joint. All I did to remove it was take a small board, lay it across the housing and hit it while holding the shaft. It popped right off. You can not remove anything else.

I forgot to take a pic of the outer CV joint on the new shaft but its not hard. Just slide it on as far as it will go and it should lock in.

I hope this write up will help someone else that might want to do this in the future.

Now I have to say that I have not installed these yet because the passenger inner CV joint seems different in feel than the drivers side when exercising them so I want to open it back up and make sure everything is correct. I am waiting on new clamps and grease from Gforce because as you saw in the first pic, they are a one time use item. My hat is off to Gforce because I was willing to pay for the new supplies but they did not charge me. THANK YOU Chris!

Great writeup and pix... I had a shop do mine. Now I understand why it cost so much! My grease was hard and silvery and took them awhile to remove and clean up. Not sure why it was that way, other than my 09' was sitting for almost 8 months outside in Ft. Myers heat, before purchase.

Ya, I heard horror stories that the grease might be hard and caked in but mine was fine. Guess I was lucky. :)
