Anyone have the GM part # handy? YouTube badly needs DIY tutorial for removal of this thing! :)

Isn't it 'twist and remove'?

Thanks CP!! And unfortunately... it's not twist and remove. It's held in place by a possessed and evil retainer clip. A huge PITA! But I taught that tube a nice lesson! ;)

Is the LS3 different then? On my L76 it is definitely twist and remove.

The tube is different for a 2008/2009 and the 2009.5 cars.

I can tell you that on the GXP, the hole where the tube goes has two metal tabs inside. I got a replacement from the dealer and it only had one slot in it. I had to file off one of the tabs for the neck to fit. I'm not sure what the other G8s come with. If you have a GXP, make sure the new neck has two slots.

You're 100% correct. The replacement tube only has 1 locking slot. WTF!!! I'll have to file down the built-in metal tabs in the valve cover. Not fun... :(

And for the sake of others... here are some additional pics of the underside of the tube. There's an opening along the bottom which is accessible once the valve cover is off, and can allow a suitable tool (ie screw driver) to be slid in. The screwdriver can then be slid along the edge until you can compress the locking tab inward toward the tube. Godspeed!

A round file will make short work of that tab, but taking the valve cover of will take a few minutes. Makes a really easy job a little more difficult.
All the oil caps you find online and eBay are "one slotters"
Also, if I rembember correctly, the new fill tube angle is not completely vertical when you twist the tube all the way til it "bottoms out" for lack of a better term.
