Exhaust smell

Anyone notice how bad our cars smell? I mean, after my x-pipe, eliminating the resonators, and free flowing mufflers, it literally stinks. My wife the other night when I flew by her, she said she let off because of the smell. She said it was horrible. I have noticed when sitting at a stand still and wind is coming from the rear I smell what tends to smell like a bad catalytic converter. But my cat is stock and I have yet to do any mods other than exhaust. Waiting til summer to mod.

Anyone else notice this smell?

I can't say that I have. I've never smelled anything with the factory cats or the high flows, well other than cooking off the residual oils from the fabrication processes of course.

One of my buddies just did an x-pipe and thrush mufflers on his stang and is getting the same smell.....I wonder if it has to do with the methanol content that is put in the gas up here in the winter.....

Could very well be. We never really run into that down here so I can't really say. Try asking MANOSTEAL69, I believe he is around chicago so he may have noticed it

i have noticed that with mine also that is just normal exhaust gases if you are ever behind imports you can notice it even worse:bm:
that kind of gas sucks

I wonder if a tune would fix or address this?

While doing the Dyno Tune on my car a couple of weeks ago, the amoniated glass cleaner smell was horrible from my exhaust...... That was before and after the tune....Never stood around and smelled the exhaust before, so I am not sure if it was there before I hacked my exhaust or not. I do not have an X pipe though...

i have had people tell me my car smells like ass too, i have stock manifolds with magnaflow cat-back fyi
