I have 2 spare stock 18x8 inch rims. I want to put a set of drag radials on them. The stock tire diameter is 26.7 inches.

I found a set of BFG drag radials 245/40ZR18 that fit on 8 inch wide rims. The diameter is 25.4 inches.

The difference in diameter shouldn't hurt anything... correct ??? The only thing that should be effected is the speedo ????

well, it's not a simple yes or no answer, but I will try my best.

Here are some immediate differences that you would notice:

1. the shorter tire will throw off the speedo, and being its 1.3" difference would easily be noticeable on the visual side of things.

2. you could theoretically help acceleration, as the shorter tire would act like a shorter gear would...

3. the negative side to this is since the circle of the tire is smaller, the length of the contact patch will be shorter, and since the tire really isn't wider it might actually hurt some of the traction, even though it's stickier...

now nitto has 2 of their INVO tires in an acceptable size, it's not a drag radial, but it's a pretty sticky tire... 245/45-18 and 255/45-18 the 245 is 26.69 tall, and the 255 is 26.93... I think the 255 combined with a 3.27 would be the best bet for the car if you are stuck using the stock wheels...

The INVO is a great tire, much better than the Potenzas. It isn't as grippy as a Drag radial, but considering what we have to work with, it's about the grippiest thing we can get when compared to GoodYears, Michellins, Pirellis, etc

Here INVO tires help a Viper to a 9.88. Hopefully they help the G8.

edmanet..... with the drag radials you are planning on getting.....

my opinion....
with 17 psi, and a good burnout and your mods, they should work good.
