I got 255/40 19 Michelan pilot sports on the back and it looks like I could go bigger. I got 2 for $108,they were pull offs....probably less than 1000 miles on them.

Thats about the widest recommended for a 8.5 wheel. Much more and it starts to pull it in too much, ie, a girl with a muffin top

The problem is price and selection. You have a lot of more options with the stock size 245/40-19.

I want wider than 255's, so I'm tempted to step up to some 20's for some show plus rubber.

That is what I am considering doing.......I want the widest tire I can get on the rear.....And if I have to change rims , I anit sticking to 19" that is for sure,.

285/30/20 is the same OD as the stock tires (or close enough). Now the trick is finding the correct offset. I only would want this large tire for the rear, so looks to be a staggered setup in my future.

I was also looking at 275/45/17's, those are also the same OD as stock. I think I've seen ZR1 wheels on the back of someone's G8 before.

Pretty sure the 20's would look better, but the 17's are cheaper, tough decisions LOL

People have been putting the ZR1 rims or any Fbody rims on the back for drag radials, dont know what size though.
