The differential is in my garage. Great service from Pace! I am waiting on the axles from G force which should be here next week.

I was told I had a few options.

75/90 gm oil and some posi lubricant. I assume the dealer has the additive which goes with the oil.

Then redline and royal purple make an oil with no additional lubricant required.

Supposedly there is a one year warranty from gm on the part. But if the car is raced I assume gm can still void the one year warranty. Correct?

RP 75 90 has their own stuff, no additional mods needed

from Rp Website

Max-Gear is an ultra-tough automotive gear oil. It’s designed to maximize power and provide unsurpassed protection to heavily loaded gears. It makes gears run smoother, quieter, cooler and longer without overhauls.

Max-Gear outperforms other gear oils because it combines the highest quality synthetic oils with Royal Purple’s proprietary Synerlec additive technology.

Max-Gear is recommended for use in truck, motor home / RV, and automotive front or rear differentials, manual transmissions, and lower gear units of marine engines that specify use of an API GL-5 or GL-4 fluid. All viscosities of Max-Gear are formulated with hypoid friction modifiers necessary for use in clutch or cone type differentials. No additional additives are necessary.

Am soil has some stuff I am going to try that has the friction modifier in it. Severe synthetic extreme pressure 75W-90 gear lube.

I wouldn't use anything from RP. I would only use GM fluid. Amsoil doesnt even recommend their Severe Gear for our diffs. I know since i am a dealer.

Just curious.....what is the part number for G8 GM diff fluid?

For the Camaro diff or the G8 diff? GM uses different fluid for each

Edit: needed to read the whole sentence lol
G8 fluid is the Castrol Carbon mod fluid - 92184900

It would be helpful if you explained why you wouldn't use RP.

When I did my research on this when I was installing my 3.27 Camaro diff. Everyone I came across and had input said they used royal purple. I've had mine about 20,000 miles no problem now with several track passes.

I used Amsoil Severe Gear with 2oz of Amsoil Slip Lock. Some diffs need the Slip Lock and some don't. I personally won't use any RP products because of their long history of subpar UOA's with their motor oils.

Blkscooby, Amsoil doesn't recommend their Severe Gear for our 2.92 diffs, but they do for the 3.27 and 3.45's.

Good to know about Amsoil in the Camaro diffs. Like Virus, I would not use RP due to its huge reduction in viscosity after use. There is loads of UOG's on multiple forums documenting this issue.

So, Greg, the camaro and g8 differentials use different oils. If so can you give me the part numbers for the camaro differential. I will forward it to my service advisor. The diff. is sitting in the garage. I am still waiting on the axles from Chris. He said they would ship today or tomorrow. They were all sold to AU so all new batches were made.
