so two days after I get my G8 from Gay ni Dickinson, the plastic floor mat retainers on the drivers side are broken. I tried to remove teh mat just how I had on the passenger side, but they broke. So it turns out that to replace these plastic retainers, the ENTIRE carpet has to be replaced:rant:. This means that my brand new car has to be completely disassembled on the inside.
Well, the carpet is nice, but Im pissed about all the little plastic clips that broke off several panels and trim parts, you know, the clips that make sure everything is a nice tight fit. For example, the silver trim ring around the cup holder no longer is secure. The panels on the passenger side of radio no longer secure. The panel that covers the post between front/back doors real close to the carpet is just clean broke in half.:rant:
its not the dealers fault that the retainers needed replacing, nor that Pontiac cant engineer carpet mat retainers that are servicable, but they could have used more care taking apart the interior!!! Its ok, they will be buying brand new peices, including several I didnt mention that have screwdriver gouges in them. :rant2:

Hope the dealership get's thing perfect for ya.
I've heard this story before. . . deja vu.
Anyway, for the most part Pontiac didn't design this vehicle. Know your facts. :p

Thats Gay Pontiac GMC in Dickinson Texas correct? I sure hope their service department is better. They ruined my 97 Sonoma on a warranty paint job. It was so bad I had to trade it in there just to get the value of the truck. I met a few of the Gay family members during this ordeal and they are great people, but the retards in the body shop were clueless!
The service department is gay.

I know it is one heck of a post, but Ive been postin awhile on teh other boards and GTO boards, so i didnt feel the need for and introduction. And Ive been around long enough to know who designed what, no need to be so critical over small details.
yeah gay pontiac is is. I have yet to complete the purchase survey, so Im sure they will do whatever to make it right. I have been working so much I havnt been back to show him everything, but I am going to ask that any panel that is marred, scratched, broken, or anything to be replaced brand new. Its cool, but frustrating. Moral of the story is to be carefull when removing floor mats. I know there is only one way to do it, but if you somehow break those plactic nubs its a PITA to get fixed.,

Sounds like the dealer didn't treat you car like it was new. Those clips shouldn't have been broken if there were careful instead of in a rush. I have taken apart the interior parts running wires etc. and haven't broken a single plastic clip. The stupid dealers always break stuff while fixing others. Thats why I refuse to take it in for anything I can do myself.
They don't give a crap, they already got your money.
I would complain big time and make them replace all the broken parts.
Call Pontiac customer service (number on Pontiac.com). I got results after contacting them.

Make them fix it correctly, do not let them get away with that.

My 2009 with only 11 miles on it CAME with the driver side floor mat clips broken! It's not a huge issue but...I will get the carpet replaced later on when the thing has a few more miles on it (and prob a stain or two on the carpet). While I am at it, I will probably run some wiring to the front and doors while the old carpet is out so that I can add my 4 channel amp in....:)
