Key stuck! Please help

My key is stuck in the ignition. I know something broke because while I was out last night and decided to drink a bit and got rough with my shifter and heard stuff break when I was going from park to drive. I started to take the whole consol apart but need help to see if anyone can tell me what I might have broke and how I can fix it or replace it. Trust me that was one of my worst decisions :facepalm2:

I think Steve had the same problem. Check your shifter linkage at the transmission.

I really doubt thats the issue since I can still shift from park to drive ect. but thanks cobra

Others have had their key stuck due to a dead battery. How is yours?

Battery is good i can still start my car

try moving the r8 relay in the driver side kick panel. pull it and change it with the trunk relay. that's what happened to me.

Alright well i switched the r8 relay with the trunk one and still same problem

When you put the shifter in park it closes a switch that grounds a solenoid on the ignition lock cylinder. The silver bezel around the shift pops off easily and the plate with the window switches pops of after that. Remove the panel back to front-it tabs in on the front. Should be a white 8 pin connector on the shifter according to service information. According to the schematic you should be able to ground the purple/white wire and it will release the key. This will not fix your problem but it will let you remove the key. You probably broke the damn shifter so yeah.....good luck.
