We just moved here a couple weeks ago and I am getting ready to start on the 6 speed manual conversion project in my GT. Looking for some fellow shade-tree mechanics that might want to help and be part of the build. It would be great to meet some other members on the board too as I have already seen several G8's in the local area. A LOT more than I ever saw back in Nebraska.

That's where I grew up. What part of the springs? Sure would be nice to visit my old stomping grounds AND work on the first manual GT. :)

North East. I am in the Cordera community if you have any idea where that is. Pretty nice place. I just coated the garage floor and the transmission should be at the house on Wednesday! My basement is unfinished and anyone who wants to help can crash for the weekend :)

I was on the south side of town in Fountain. Graduated from Widefield back in 87. No comments, I know I'm old. :)

Ok all, the car is up on jack stands and I am going to start pulling stuff out this weekend. If anyone has some free time and wants to come BS while I take apart the auto, come on by.

I can't help with the project but wish you luck. I just wanted to comment on this. Unfortunately this isn't the first manual GT, but a daunting task nonetheless. Keep us updated.

True, this isn't the first manual GT. However, it will be (knock on wood) the first to use the readily available Camaro transmission as a core. And since I also am putting in a 3.45 diff, the trans and diff were designed to work with each other. The real work starts tomorrow. I am going to get a good night's sleep tonight and start at it first thing in the morning.

I needed it today. Lots of progress on the car, but lots more to go. It's a good thing I like solving problems.

Getting back to work on the car this week if anyone has some spare wrenching time. Especially if you are good with wiring. I hate dealing with wiring...
