Everyone knows I have sold my car. Well, she sits in my garage waiting for her new owner to come take her away to Houston. The last few weeks have been grueling, trying to decide what comes next.
The FIAT disaster taught me a couple things. 1) mini cars are fun, 2) coupes suck with babies
So, after that disaster I thought the Prius was going to be the way to go. Thankfully, my friends on facebook steered me away.
My new ride is a 2012 VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI with sunroof & nav

Bluetooth, Navigation, a HUGE panoramic sunroof, a real spare tire AND 40mpg to start...
I understand completely. Gotta grow up sometime. Congrats on the sale and the new car. I sold mine for one of these...

I miss the G8, but I'm saving so much money by driving this car. 87 octane vs 93, 43 highway mpg vs 22, cheaper tires and other parts, lower payment, 100k mile warranty.

Your only saving because your not modding!
I hope by posting in this thread it doesn't jynx me into selling! haha
Yeah that's another thing. There's no desire whatsoever to spend money on the car! If I could afford to keep the G8 in the garage and drive another car like you do, I would have kept it!

haha...
On that note my VW is slowly dying... the G8 might be driven a bit more this summer.

So you might actually hit 7k miles this year? ;)

 lol
If I drive down to NC to get a good meal I might! I need to make a trip down there soon.

I guess the TDI leaves enough mod-ability to keep me sane, yet removes the constant desire to change shit.
From 4.50 a gallon to 4.05 & 15ish mpg to 40/30...and the $175 lower payment.
its crazy though... a month ago I would of told you that you were crazy if you thought I was selling my car.

Growing up from in a VW family you've done good. My mom had a '11 jetta wagon that she totaled... actualy she got side swiped. Now she's driving a Tiguan 2.0t and my dad has a '10 4 door GTi 2.0t
I like his car. I loved mine too, but she's starting to 5 and 10 me after 173xxx miles on her. Are you leasing, or did you buy outright?
I also had a 6v 1966 Bettle, a '71 Super beetle and '72 beetle which was my first.
My sister drove around a new beetle when they first came out. My dad also had a '68 beetle, a MK3 Golf, a MK4 Jetta 1.8t, and a '09 2.0 passat.
Needless to say I had to break the trend when I bought the G8. It has more power and alot cheaper than the S4 I was looking at.

If it's a stick, the diesel geek short shift is a MUST...
And simple to do.

It's an auto. None of the current sportwagens come in manual.
We purchased it... I really wanted the A3 TDi but I HATED the A3 nav

Then idk. I just remember the sales guy saying something about one of the configurations not being available in manual. Hubs wanted automatic anyway. They had a killer deal on a '12 sedan with 8k miles on it. But it was a manual. I liked it, he didn't.

I can respect this post as I like VWs. Slam it on some nice wheels and enjoy your MPG.

Great choice Jess. You'll really enjoy it. I remember when I had to give up toys for more responsible reasons.
Thankfully they're all grown and successful and I've been able to go back the other way.
Not sure old age is a good trade though.........

It's not a planet killing prius so you're good to go
Glad you have good friends. Friends don't let friends buy a Prius. If I had to buy an economical vehicle, TDI is the way to go.

If I win my election I will most likely be selling my either my G8 or my truck and getting a Turbo Diesel from someone. Can we at least turn up the boost some on these stock turbos lol
