Hey I lost my key tonight and cannot find the spare. Is there any way to put it in neutral with no key? It is unlocked. I would like to push it out of the road into my buddies driveway so I do not need to leave it on the street until I can get a new key. Thanks.

Did not think so. Damn. Guess I will call triple a and have it towed the two miles to my place. Is there a way to tow it while in park without damaging it? I imagine they have some kind dolly they can use. Or hook from the back?

They will pull it up on a flatbed...
Good luck getting it off the flatbed though...

No 24 hours lock smith in your area? I know in Houston there is a 24 hour one that can apparently do G8 keys. Is there anything on-star can do if you still have it?

On-Star can't do anything...
All they can do is locate, track, and unlock doors...

Even if you got it in Neutral you couldn't steer it...
Good Luck !

Steering is the problem.
"Neutral" is easy enough to do.

I agree ^^ disconnect linkage from trans and put it in whatever gear position you want.
The steering, I guess you could jack it up with a floor jack and push the front in whatever direction you like. Good luck finding the keys.

Another question. Does anyone know which half of the key holds the programming? I have a spare half a key with the buttons that I know is programmed. If I can just get a new cut blade half will the car start or does it need to go to a dealer for that also?

I believe that keys must come from GM. Something about being laser cut. And there is a chip in the key section, as well.

Actually right beside the shifter under the trim piece the is a little push button to unlock the shifter no need to disconnect anything just pull the trim piece around the shifter and there is a little black bracket held on with 1 screw I think under that is the push button to unlock the shifter with no power. The steering is easy enough to just disconnect it from the steering box 1 bolt and it slides off....then while you are pushing it have your buddy kick the tires which ever way you want them to go......Just dont spin the steering wheel around allot you will break the clock spring for the airbag.

If you're talking about the intermediate steering linkage, that's actually easy to get to from the top of the engine...

Thanks for all the help guys. I actually just managed to find my spare set of keys in a backpack that I have not used in over a year. I pretty much tore my house apart trying to find them. I even checked in every pocket on every piece of clothing.
