In response to several requests, I am making my transmission repair / rebuild tools available for anyone who wants to take on the project. If there is enough interest, we can do a "Pay it Forward" program where the person using the tools sends them to the next person in line. If not or there is nobody else in line, you send them back to me. For now, this only includes the HUGE snap ring pliers and the clutch drum removal tool. You will also need a manual and a dial indicator. I can include these if needed, but I strongly encourage anyone wanting to take on this project to buy the manual first. Read it several times. Sleep with it under your pillow. Take it with you to school/work, get to know it. If you still decide you are a crazy person like I was, then please PM me or post interest in this thread and I will add you to the wait list.

So, the rules as I have them right now:

1) This is a free tool rental program, but you are responsible for paying shipping both ways. A $50 deposit via PayPal is required for out-bound shipping. When the tools are returned, the balance of my shipping cost will be returned. Easy.
2) Please make sure you are ready to take on the project. I know stuff happens in the middle of these projects, but lets try to keep the maximum duration to 2 weeks for now.
3) Whoever currently has the tools will be annotated in this thread. So if you are hoarding them, everyone will know. :D
4) The "you break it, you bought it" policy applies. Don't misuse the tools. I expect them to be returned in clean, serviceable condition. Hopefully this won't be a problem, but please be an adult and replace the tools if something happens in your care.

I think that is all for now. I hope this will prompt more people into learning a little more about their cars. Though, I currently can't recommend the Alto Raybestos clutches. See some of my other threads for more info.

That's a major service to the community. I won't need them but let me be the first to thank you :)

Most welcome. Just happy to give back to the community. I really just hope I can get this manual finished before the end of the summer. I would love to be able to bring it to the G8 meet in September.

If you bring your G8 to the meet, converted to a manual, everything you drink is on me. Make it happen.

Challenge accepted! It is already in the works, just waiting for parts and time.

Still say you should throw some stock clutches back in yours. That way when you sell it, it will be a "working" transmission. You should only need the 4-5-6 and maybe the 3-5-R. Fairly cheap and should only take a Saturday to do.

That's the plan.

Money has been sent.

I've decided to just do a stock rebuild and find someone that can help me with the trans tune with my HPTuners.

Thanks again.
