Anyone know an inexpensive method to cut 304 stainless steel exhaust pipe? I'd like to do this myself, but if I can't manage it, I'll take it somewhere.

Thanks for the quick response Norm.
I've been looking for reciprocating blades like these, but most are quite expensive. My only concern is Harbor
Freight seems to sell Chinese junk. Do you have experience with these blades?

Thanks

Use your mitre saw/chop saw with a metal cutting blade. $8/9 for the blade. That's what I used - just take your time and go slow, so you dont jam the tube up in there.

Yeah, I used them to Remove an old basket ball pole and it chopped it right up no problem. Just take your time. It goes quick. The blade barely had any visible wear after chopping it up into small enough pieces to throw out in the trash.

Also chopped the flanges off my stock GT mufflers to adapt to my corsa system for easy swapping.

There might be other ways but it worked for me.

I have had great luck with Vermont (I think...red packaging from Home Depot...sawzall blades, not milwaukees)...made in Switzerland.

Awesome blades just get high TPI (teeth per inch) count for metal cutting. I've cut 401, 304, standard thick steel tubing etc with them. Fairly I expensive for what they are, $10-15 for a bulk pack.

Thanks guys,
I'll be tackling this job on Saturday, and let know how it came out.

Is it on vehicle or off?

No, it's still on the car. I want to cut off about 3" from the tail end of my mufflers, which are 2 1/2" diameter, to put on some 4" tips. If I have to, I'll take the mufflers off and do it.

You could do it the old fashion way...Hacksaw. Of course you will have to take them off the car.

It took me longer than expected to get to this project, but I think it was worth it.
I used my reciprocating saw with a 18 TPI bi-metal blade to cut through the existing 2 1/2" 304 stainless exhaust pipe. Only took a coupole of minutes.
Now I have 4" 304 stainless steel tips. What do ya think?
