I am looking for an iphone mount that will be robust enough to keep the phone mounted for road track events. I just bought a hands-free kit from Best Buy today but it uses a flexible piece going into the cigarette lighter and it isn't substantial enough. I want to use Harry's Lap Timer as well as get an OBDII bluetooth setup eventually for displaying engine info (temps mostly).
Thanks!
As long as you find a holder with AMPS compatible mounting pattern, you could use the Panavise mount which is what I use. http://www.tss-radio.com/products/pontiac-g8-2009-custom-mount Where it mounts it's easily reachable and viewable. It's only held by one screw, but it's secure and rigid. I have a TomTom Car Kit for iPod to hold my iPod Touch, but there are other options out there.

Look up ARKON MEGA GRip
Works on many different smart phones and accommodates many sized. Cushioned and safe for the device.
Also has suction cup or vent mount options. I use the suction cup, and mount to either the window (when using GPS) or mount to the spot under the center speaker. (I have an 09 so I don't have gauges)
Removable and nobody knows the wiseer. OH and the spacing accomodates your plug in. I had to modify mine a bit, for the plug for my MotoDX. For a Iphone no modification would be necessary.

How do you get that nifty door under the radio?

I use mine so that I can turn it sideways and use the car dock, and use the DX video cam for record passes in the car.
OK so I've only done it once and it was for the dragon run last summer. but it works amazingly well.

If you're talking about mine, it's part of the GPS trim kit you can get from Crazy Paul.
