I know we've all had the 87 vs. 93 discussion. What about brands of fuel? Hess, BP, Sunoco, etc. etc. Which Brand does everyone think is the best ?

BP and Sunoco are great for octane ratings.

I use BP.

Most of the BP's had 93 here and then almost all of them changed to 91 so I switched to Shell which has 93 and 92.

Both have always been a good fuel for me.

They're still 93 around here. I hope it doesn't change.

I look for the stations that do not add the 10% ethanol when possible.

I use BP. 10 percent ethanol is Winter gas in most states. You can't get around it.

Does that really make much of a difference ??

I've always liked BP, but there are basically none around here. Usually used Wawa all the time (most probably don't even know what this is) but they only offer 91 now. So I may have to start going to Sunoco and start getting 93 once I get my tune. Just sucks cause Wawa actually has decent fuel and is always 8-10 cents cheaper.

Would there be much of a difference between 91-93 with the tune ?

Is that your actual plate ? Cause that's what I have.

You would want to tune for 91 if you can't get 93. You would get a significant amount of spark knock on 91 with a 93 tune.

No, it's just my avatar.

What I meant was would there be a notable difference with using 91 w/tune or using 93 w/tune ? I love my I8AHEMI plate.....get lots of dirty looks from the Charger boys.

Same price to tune for either. Better performance with 93. Worth it IMO.

I think so.....anyone else care to comment?

You can always buy octane booster to compensate for the 91 octane on a 93 tune.

I thought Kirk at Vector said 8hp but I may be mistaken...

I went with a 93 tune. If I have to put 91 in it I can. Not a biggie.

You could always use Octane Booster with 91 if no 93 is available

I use BP, Marathon, and Countrymark (Indiana based company) which uses 100% US oil and ethanol.

I'm not so sure...I have the 93 tune and every so often I run 87 octane. It does get much worse mileage, though.

Used BP since day one. Threw a CEL P1133, had dealer check it and clear it. Told to change to "Top Tier" fuel such as Chevron or Shell. Have not had a CEL since.

I use in this order: Shell, Mobil and Sunoco, all 93 octane, have used these three since the day I bought it even before I got the 93 tune. I usually use Shell. I even put the same stuff in my Roadmonsters, they run much better on 93.

Just sucks that it's far and few between any Shell stations as they and Chevron are basically the only top tier fuel stations in the area. And I can't even remember where I've seen the Chevron station. Sunoco's are more common here and will probably be the one i go to unless i come across one of the others.

Also, Octane booster is fine to use. I'm not saying I would use it every single fill up, nut if your out traveling somewhere and can't find a station to fill-up w/93 then you can have it in your car to add to the 91. Just back-up plan.

I use Chevron or Exxon-Mobil (usually Mobil rather than Exxon).

Two more that are no longer around here. NJ sucks. We have all the crappy gas stations and we can't even pump our own gas.:bm:

When Kirk had mine on the dyno at VMS I had a tank full of shell. had a little knocking going on. He said BP would have been better. Might have gotten a tad more than 328hp!
I try to use BP when I can now.
