What is the deal with our Continental Onstar modules?

I have an '09 no bluetooth module #25826499. I called around today found a dealer that could get #20827036 for a great deal. I was like :woohoo: I'll now be able to have bluetooth! Then I get a call back hours later crushing my hands free calling dreams :cry:

I was told that the modules are on an exchange program and I would only be able to get the #208 for a #208 and I have to give one to get one.

Why wont the dealers just sell these outright? Anyone know?


Oh well back to searching for another great deal...

and yes I know there is one for sale on G8board and NO way am I paying that much for one...

I had to get mine off of Ebay and then get it sent to (can't remember his name right off the bat) who is a member here to reprogram it to my VIN.
PITA but worth it in the long run.

CW does it, so could the dealer.

This was a ggod enough deal to make it worth it. I don't even know why I want it, It's not like I can hear anything when driving anyways... :)
My little grip is/was why do they need to on a exchange program

I can't figure it out either? I don't need it as I have the costar model but if reasonably priced I would jump on getting the factory bluetooth module. GM would then get OnStar back into my life... and ... maybe ... I would sign-up! (probably not though)

Chris White (GTPrix) is who you need to talk to. Why GM does it this way has been beat to death on the forums. There are a few threads that can give you the part numbers for boxes that will work, but good luck finding one!

Yeah it's fun. I've got the three part numbers, spent hours last night looking on the web and found nothing. The threads did help. Made a phone call this morning and was on a roll...
Now I need to find some totaled trucks or, a ... GXP :(
