Hey guys! new to the G8 forum

Hey im david! i got my base G8 a little more than a month ago, I'm a pretty long and active member over at G6performance.com needless to say i traded my 2010 G6 for my 2008 G8, I have some slight experience [nothing crazy] with tuning and CAI, I dont want to do much mods to my G8 but ive been thinking about a CAI at least, and ive been looking around on here for some info but I cant seem to find anything definite or any product that's been chosen more than another i figured i could get a better response this way.

so in your opinions whats the best manufacturer to go to for a CAI for the 3.6 G8? and i know a tune isnt necessary but is always recommended, whats the best way to go tune wise? I've seen where the ECM is on this thing and i dont think i want any part of putting in a new ECM like i did for my G6 it looks way to hard on the G8 haha any help would be appreciated!

Welcome! Roto-Fab makes a CAI for the V6. That would probably be your best bet. They make a quality product.

Thanks! I saw one newer thread that was about a tuning breakthrough of some sort so ill have to look more into that to see what thats all about

MACE also makes an intake insulator that is supposed to work very well in conjunction with a CAI and gives some improved low-end power. Roto-fab also makes a radiator cover for the V6 that finishes off the front of the engine compartment nicely.

They are the only ones I have heard of who can tune both the engine and the transmission in the V6. Still waiting to see if the guy (Hazer) who installed the insulator and has the tune posted any dyno numbers.

Mace works with the V6's as far as I know. I believe there's also a "Trifecta" tune out there, but Hazer is the one to ask.

Hmm ok sounds good to me im just looking for a little more kick from the v6 other than that i love it both my cars before were 4 cylinders so this is a big step up haha and the v8 was just a little to out of my price range, i had a k&n onmy g6 and boy was there a nice difference when i ran it with that so im hoping for the same with the g8 just better

Mace has the tune and the outcome is pretty good from what I heard.They also have a better intake manifold and an insulator.And they just released cams for our engine.keep in mind any catback will fit the V6,i would go with a GT catback like i have.Click my link for the sound i have now.

CPR6 makes an intake that is PRICEY but claims to make HP
roto FAB sounds the best for CIA
MACE will sell you a programmer and "BASE" tune then you download info from your car to them and they make a custom tune for your car and they are working on cams but MY understanding they have NOT "cracked" the 5 speed auto trans yet but are working on it

The trans is tuned to the max from the factory already.My car shifts just fine,nice crisp clean shifts everytime.

sorry i havent checked back in awhile, thanks for all the warm welcomes! and thanks for the info everyone i got the link from hazer for the tune and i have the link for the intake from roto-fab so im likely to get one of those when i get my taxes done haha

now i remember with my G6 i needed to get a crank relearn and i never did and i started to have problems, would i have to do that with the G8 after the intake/tune?

ohyeah?? i had my 6 for a few years just did mostly appearance mods to it but i always wanted a G8 and since the prices have been dropping i figured id be able to spring for one now so here i am haha
