Car decided to not start tonight. Let it sit a bit and it finally did but I clearly need a battery. Anyone know the right size?

Already?? how long did you let it sit for?

You have to take into consideration how long these cars sat in Australia, on the boat, and then at the port......It's not unusual to have these sort of issues with cars shipped from overseas.

This is true. Any yellowtops out there that'll fit in this car?

Tom, shouldn't the dealer replace it under warranty?

He should, but I think Tom has the same love & respect for dealers that others of us do.

I WILL slash my wrists before my baby is touched by a dealer.

Pretty much right. I'd rather spend the money than the time.

Apparently the ACDelco part is 94R6YR. I bet its going to be a trick to find one....

I know Oreillys and Interstate both carry them.

Are you set on getting a stock replacement?

Getting whatever I can lay hands on. We don't have O'reillys. We have advance, Bennet, Pep Boys, auto zone.

Well, Bennett has them in warehouse. Have to go buy it and they have it in about 3 hours. PITA but guess it works.

Well, I'm glad you, at least, found something.

Better than leaving car at dealer all day then having them say "it starts fine".

If the new battery does not have the vent tube on it take it off the old battery.

Next trick is figuring out how to get the inside trunk covers off....

Remove (unscrew) the storage T hooks at the rear of the trunk, then you should be able to move the drivers side enough to remove/replace the battery.

The group 48 battery is very close in size. Check Remybattery.com for their Euro; it's got much higher ratings than the stock battery.....

cool! Thanks!

You may need to remove the trunk mat (spare tire cover) also as everything kinda fits together :)

I found the best and fastest way to do this is to accidently spill about a gallon and a half of gasoline inside the truck on the way home from filling up the gas can for the mower :bm:

I did this back in June less than 2 months after I bought the car. Needless to say, I was LIVID!! I tore that crap out so fast I don't even remember how I did it. In the end, I drove without carpet or anything in my trunk for about a month while letting the carpet air out on my side patio. After all the fumes dried out and evaporated, it was as good as new! No sign of it ever happening (except for maybe the neighbors hearing me yell and scream all kinds of obscenities :)

Tom, is it too late to go with the Optima, after reading your other post? Seems like it would prevent the issues with acid/corrosion. I'll be looking into this the first time I have to clean the battery compartment.

Yea, too late. Haven't heard great things anyway.

Just an FYI, I just had my battery replaced under warranty last week. I was curious if anyone else had the same issue so soon.
