View Full Version : DIY Cabin filter product feedback - not good

This morning I decided to replace the cabin filter and the old filter was way past due on my 48,000 mile vehicle. Dirty beyond belief. Anyway, I bought a filter at NAPA auto parts, their Gold filter. What a piece of total crap. The filter did not fit into the opening correctly, it was off just enough in its measurements to buckle the flimsy air element thereby revealing a large gap on each side for the air to pass through where it did not mate up to the frame. I ended up getting out a pair of scissors and "modifying" the element so that it would fit reasonably well. I'd say it now covers 90% of the space it was meant. I would have returned it but in the process of taking out and putting the filter back in 10 times I slit my hand and bled all over it.

Pretty disappointed, this product gets a grade of D-.:facepalm2:

I can even save you shipping. I'll be in Northville on March 1st. Or, Auburn Hills.

I got my first one from GM. Sorry to hear the Napa one drew first blood.

The "cheaper" ones from microguard fit OK...take a little patience to get in correctly, I have not fitted the GM part number so I cannot compare.

I agree, genuine GM from Crazy Paul/G8Ray.

The holden filters are the bomb. I have some spares due to my efforts as well.

Just replaced my holden filter today after 25,000 miles on it and it was filthy! Had lots of leaves, debris, and dust in the compartment.

Replaced with a new holden filter and it went in like a charm and fits great.

I replaced mine when I bought the car. Got it from Amazon, holden branded, fit perfect, super easy.
