Just to clarify.
I've currently got 6x V8 Holden Rad covers sitting in Ohio that can be had delivered for US$90ea.
Any other Rad Covers will have to be sent individually from Australia and will cost US$130 delivered.

The Rad cover fitted to BlueJackets car is actually a V6 rad cover that got sent by accident mixed in with the other V8 covers. By some freak of nature it's all worked out perfect because it does actually look better than the V8 rad cover, in applications where the V8 radiator is tilted for the New Era OTR.

Insane Deal 25........they are the ones sitting in Ohio, currently 6x V8 Radiator Covers.

BlueJackets and the one that suits the New Era OTR best are the V6 Rad Covers.

All V6 covers and (after the 6 V8 covers are gone) all V8 covers will need to be sent individually from Australia, hence the higher price.

That looks real good, BJ. The fuel rail cover color overlays came out real nice too.

The only difference between a V6 and V8 Radiator Cover is the Radiator Cap access Port is blank on the V6 Cover.

If you fit an OTR and lay the radiator back on a V8,
then the radiator cap moves back and will not be directly underneath the V8 rad cover radiator cap access port.

So the V6 Cover looks better in a V8 with OTR application.

Yeah it is tight. I put a little grease on it and that helped.

Thanks. I'm glad I went all the way with the heater hose relocation kit so I didn't have to cut the passenger side engine cover. That's what held me up from buying them in the first place. Well worth doing it all together.

Woah, what kind of engine covers are those?! They're bossy (ie, huge) and I like them. The gun metal color makes them look rock solid. Is your car MGM?

My guess would be they were an LS2 Corvette cover originally.

Yeah they are the LS2 covers from a vette. My car is a magnetic gray G8 so I thought I would paint the covers in a charcoal gray/ granite color. I first painted a black base coat, then used a charcoal gray spray paint. But I only sprayed in a splatter formation. Then i finished it off with some sprinkles of chrome spray paint. After it all dried, I color sanded it for a smooth finish.

all by roto-fab

still trying to figure out exactly what I want to do with the fuel rail covers, I'll probably break down soon and take all three pieces to a body shop to have them painted. I'm not 100% happy with the job I did.

You guys that got the Holden covers, did your oil dipstick line up with the grove on the right side cover?

Executor999
03-13-2009, 12:53 PM
For me, not exactly. Dunno why. My car is 'special' I guess.

BluYa76
03-13-2009, 03:07 PM
Nope mine did not line up either.

Crazy Paul
03-13-2009, 03:20 PM
This is the first I've heard of the dipstick not lining up with the tiny slot in the cover.
The reason it probably does not line up is that the covers originally come from a VZ model Commodore. The L76 engine they had fitted had a Holden "front sump" oil pan, to suit the steering rack location in the VZ.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/PerthPurplePenguin/car parts/L76/P1010140.jpg

The VE and G8 GT have a more traditional rear sump type oil pan fitted. The dipstick therefore enters the pan further back towards the firewall. The top of the dipstick tube is probably also back closer to the firewall than the VZ was. Hence the VZ cover tiny slot will not line up with the G8-GT dipstick handle.

That's the one! Dipstick sits about 1" forward of that slot. No biggee. I guess folks are carving out a new one.

GXPaycheck
03-15-2009, 03:12 PM
OK, I carved out a new slot. Right side is OK. But now I find that the one vac line that crosses the fuel rail on the left side is sitting right where the aft clip on the cover attaches to the rail. Anybody else have a quick fix?

Crazy Paul
03-15-2009, 03:34 PM
First time I've heard of this issue.
Is there enough movement in the plastic line to wriggle it aside and then use a cable (zip) tie to secure it there ? You dont want it permanently under tension tho.

BlueJacket
03-15-2009, 05:59 PM
Yeah the dip stick cut out did not line up on mine too. I just enlarged it.

GXPaycheck
03-16-2009, 02:16 AM
Guess I'm just a problem child. Vac line is shoved out of the way for now. best fix I can see is a catch can. Now where's that tax refund.........................
