I assume weather conditions and the type of driving your doing could impact it, but curious if anyone knows about what average operating temp is?

My oil temp runs around 212 degrees, no matter what the outside temps.

Yup, mine varies from about 190 to 220 depending on how, where, and how long I've been driving it.
I was about to say WTF when I realized my Dashawk displays in and is around 98 or so in the summer ... same temp in the end.

Thanks guys, finally wired in the HSV guages and was just curious. Was suprised how long it took to come up to temp.

When it's cold like it has been, it take about 5 minutes to raise the oil temp to 100.

Ray my HSV guage starts at 125, I would say every bit of 10-15 to get to that.

+1...
My oil temp usually doesn't reach it's peak until I'm about halfway to work, and I have a 30 minute commute.

My hacked atari gauges go down to whatever the oil temp is at the time I start it. I only let it idle about a minute or two before I start rolling. Then I keep the rpm's under 2300 until the oil hits 175. I have nasty piston slap.
I just realized I misread you post. You said it takes 5 minutes for it to get to 100... not 5 minutes to get to 212. That makes a lot more sense :)

Once up to operating temp, I am in the 220's.

Fully warmed up at cruise speed, stock t-stat, 222 degrees F oil temp in any weather.
This oil temp is just a little too hot for a 30w oil IMHO. Since I put the gauges in, I have been using 0w-40 oil (Mobile 1).

Yup, normally my hacked ataris are at 224 and 226 on the really hot days.

Oil temp of 224 once up to speed before the stainless steel engine bay trim, 228 after.
