Doing a Livernois Stage 1 Cam With PI 2800 Stall very soon, and im starting to peice together all the parts that I will need thats not included in the livernois kit. When searching for Oil Pumps I get a few options.
High Volume, Or High Pressure.
What Oil Pump should I get?? What is everyone else running? Should I even Change it? Car has 80,000 KMS (Canadian) Thanks In advance! Also any input on my cam and stall picks? Came very recommended by livernois. Mostly DD, and track twice a month or so.

The stock L76 oil pump is already high volume because of all the dod hardware. I would leave it alone but if you really want to replace it replace it with a stock L76 oil pump. High pressure wouldn't do you any good since our oil pan has an oil pressure bypass valve set at 55 psi. Volume is better then pressure in most cases anyway.

I use a Melling HV oil pump in most builds. You can change a spring in it to have +10 psi at idle and here in the south if you use 5/30 or less it is worth it. I have had 1 in my car for over 2 years and no abnormal Atari drop at idle when it is really hot like the stock oil pump.

I run the standard LS6 oil pump. Works great.
To be honest, I don't know why it was sold as an LS6 oil pump... they're pretty much all this:

I'm running stock L76 oil pump with my cam. The car definitely doesn't go above 55psi since that pressure valve in the oil pan prevents it. Haven't run into any issues at all with that limitation. I take satisfaction (and relief) knowing that the volume will never be an issue due to the pump being designed to support all of the DOD hardware that is no longer in my car AND knowing that my pressures are right where they should be.
L76 oil pump = high volume and perfect pressure for my mods & driving.

Yes. I know what I said in the other thread, but yes. I'd lose sleep over things more important.

That's how my car is set up. Except I'm still on the stock chain.

I know I asked this before but..I bought the oil kit pictures below which should be same as stock just new. This kit has a blue o-ring and the stock pump has an orange o-ring. Is this the right pump? Also the new one looks slightly different im assuming a casting change.

The blue o-ring feels sloppy when on the pickup tube and in pump; and the red o-ring is snug/tight

You've got a box there with a GM Part Number on it, so just google it.
You've received a standard volume oil pump, for most LS series engines.....except AFM engines which come standard with a high volume oil pump.

GM Parts Info says, Stock L76 (High Volume) Oil pump is #12612289.

Use Red O Ring 12584922 on G8-GT pickup tube.

Thanks Paul, I thought that kit was for the stock G8 pump;guess not. I did google it and it shows exactly as you've said. I also already decided to use the orange/red o-ring.
