Looking to get another G8. Been missing mine everyday since I got rid of it last year. One that I am looking at has almost 150,000 miles but is really cheap. What do you guys think? It is a 2009 GT. Silver. Looks like it is in good shape but might have to see if anyone lives out in NC from here that can check it out good for me. :)

The price better be REALLY good for 150k miles...

Might as well plan an upgrade or another drop in replacement into that price for some point.

I think I'd pass on that one unless it's really, really, really a bargain.
Don't think I'd pile too many mods on a 150,000 bottom end. Then again, how nice is
the rest of the car? It must have had decent maintenence to get it that far. I
saw a sweet one in for an oil change at a place I deliver to last week. Had almost 100k on it.
I never would have believed it.
If you can hang on, at the pace I'm going mine will approach that figure in 2057.

Well mine turned 101,500 on Saturday and is rock solid plus the new engine is a big +.

150k is a ton of mileage...I'd pass it. Better not to have a G8 than to have one that's falling apart. :twocents:

150k is a bit too high unless the car is super clean. Then it could be 75-90% highway mileage. If it is super clean and real cheap you can put a crate motor in it for 7-9k depending on what you pick.

The car is at Moores Auto in Forest City, NC. From the pics it looks like it is still in great shape. They are asking under 12k. So at that price I was thinking I could afford to put work into the suspension and could easily save up for a different engine and possibly tranny. It is not exactly what I am looking for but dang it is cheap.

That is pretty sweet but I am looking for something under 18k.

It looks clean for it's mileage.

It actually does look very nice! Buy it for 10K, put a crate engine in it and keep some money aside for a new transmission. For under 20K you have an awesome car!

If the car runs and drives fine you really only need to repair what is needed to make it safe/dependable.

I am starting to think that highway miles are no worse than sitting around in a garage.

Highway.

There are a few in MI with over 100k...but not for that price...

That would tempt even me at that price in that shape.

Mine is all highway miles and besides the stone chips it is perfect.
My 2004 Chevy Colorado has 386,000 95% highway miles and its the same engine tranny A/C one set of brakes and a windscreen. All cleaned up you would think it has 30,000 miles on it.

Highway miles are about helf of what city driving does to a vehicle.

Normal maintenance and drive it with love and it will show you LOVE Back.

If I can get my pickup sold anytime soon I will probably be getting the car. Thanks for the advice.

Offer $9950 and do not be afraid of the mileage. It does not look modded, therefore hardly raced. Do a carfax on it, and buy with confidence. If you don't, I will.

Ya the car looks clean. Was driven by a sales guy like me that put on a lot of miles and kept her in good shape.

Is that a collapsed strut mount I see on the left in the engine shot [pass side]

Either way...that car is cheap for what you get.

It's gonna need a cabin air filter for sure.
