Guys,

As alot of you know I just got my car back last night from a cam/heads/DOD delete swap... The car was hauled back to me on a flat bed hauler because of the snow. When I got in and backed it off the steep incline of the ramp and got back to the ground the check oil light was on the screen. I figured it was from the incline I just backed down... Anyway, I started it tonight and the same thing... I checked the oil and its fine. Oil pressure is between 46-51 at idle says my Dashhawk. Thoughts? Sensor missed during putting it back together?

That's possible.

is there a way to reset the light to see if it comes on again? I would think sitting overnight it would be fine?

You could disconnect your battery for a few minutes.

Just talked to the main guy that did the install. He said it is possible he bumped the wire in the pan where the oil level sensor is while he was dropping the pan for the oil pickup tube. He said it didn't start until he loaded the car onto the flat bed.

That main guy just caused a lot of work for himself to get back in there and fix it. I would check these two things first:

1. Check that your oil pressure sensor on the back of the valley cover, drivers side, is plugged in/secured. Maybe try to reseat it.

2. This is so easy to check too so I'm just going to put this out there because I DID IT. Make sure your PVC hoses are on correctly. If you have the LS3 valley cover, that PVC hose should be attached to the throttle body. The intake PVC should be attached to the passengers side valve cover. Finally, the drivers side outlet where the old PVC hose was pre-DOD delete should be plugged. I mixed up the connections and my oil pressure was so damn high that it spurted oil out of the oil pan gasket.

Thank you... I will check that! Oil pressure from 46 to 51 at idle is normal correct?

I don't think its throwing a code. I was going to clear codes with dash hawk to see if it would come back and the dash hawk said there is no codes to report. Thinking bad sensor?

After searching mutiple threads I have found these part numbers that could be the culprit.

15306388 is just the harness that plugs into the side of the oil pan. Have you gotten down there and wiggled it, disconnected it and plugged it back in? That might fix it, make sure nothing is in there (like oil!) where the contacts are made on the pins.

I just don't see how you could damage either of those part numbers unless someone tried to yank the pan out without unplugging it first. If that were the case, I would seriously be questioning my installer and asking "WTF man!" As many bolts that have to be removed to drop the pan and the wiring harness that is glaringly staring you in the face for the entire run of passenger side bolts and it doesn't get disconnected....

Don't know the situation... I wasn't there. However I was there the next day and started it and no light at all. It came on when loading it on the flat bed....

Good deal man.

Take it from me, and anyone else who has done it, I dropped the oil pan 3 times over the course of a week and anytime you can solve your problem without having to do that is a relief. Not that it's terribly difficult but it's also not terribly fun.

It always comes down to the simple details with these installs. It's like when you have internet dropouts and you're ready to replace your entire damn computer until you realize that you haven't checked the ethernet cable just to find it was simply pinched. Simple solutions first!

There's actually 2 shown in the catalog that have the same range of engine applications (L76,LS3,L77 etc)

I think Orange is the correct one to use. You need to check.

12557752 is blue.
SEAL,O/PMP SUC PIPE(O RING)(BLUE)(01.724). Required: 01
For: E 6.0Y W/CYL DEACTVN(L76) (2008-2009) (2008 - 2009).
For: E 6.2W(LS3) (2009-2009) (2009 - 2009).
For: EK19 6.0 (L77),V8 ENGINE(EVG) (2011-2011) (2011 - 2011).

12584922 is orange.
SEAL,O/PMP SUC PIPE(O RING)(ORANGE)(19.63MM I.D., 4.32MM THICKNESS)(TEFLON COATED)(01.724). Required: 01

10000000000% positive that it is the orange one. I just did the o-ring job and had both on hand. ORANGE is right, blue is not. I think the blue o-ring is for trucks.

Just to give you even more confirmation, here is the stock o-ring we removed. Sorry I don't have a picture of the new one we put on, it was taken with someone elses camera. Make sure you put a shit ton of assembly lube on it and go straight in or yours will look like this one that we took off.

ORANGE is right, blue is not. I think the blue o-ring is for trucks.

From the small amount of reading I did it seems the blue was a 1st design and the orange a second design, from way way back 2000ish.
O Ring useage depends on the design of the pick-up tube (not the pump), so it's going to vary with car platform and not necessarily engine.
Car/truck platform dictates oilpan shape which dictates oil pickup tube used which dictates O ring colour.

Think of an LS2 in a GTO, a Corvette, a TBSS.....3 different oilpan shapes, 3 different pick-up tubes......Same basic engine but not not necessarily the same colour O Ring to be used.
